it's all so annoying. They upgrade we upgrade, more hardware required, more software, gliches, upgrade this machine in one environment, then upgrade another so you can work properly, next company upgrades their apps to work with kupgrades, more bugs, more changes in software.
I use computers for work and it just gets in the way , down time, glitches. In fact the standard computers will be gone in a couple of years i think. It's all changing

Polybore has been using windows 7 for a while now (polybore is a beta tester registered with microsoft technet).
Polybore runs Windows XP, Ubuntu and windows 7. Have avoided Vista for obvious reasons.
The good news is that Windows 7 is very impressive and it runs fine on polybore's ancient, eight year old, test rig. AMD XP3200 (socketA!) 1.25GB RAM and Gforce 6600GT.-
Do "lemon laws" apply to operating systems?? Can those of us who are STUCK with that useless sack of s**t called Vista get a free upgrade to Windows 7?
My NEW computer is having problems, some of them factory faults, but the technician said I would be better off without Vista as it is sucking up more than half my RAM! I have 2 gigs and have to upgrade to 4 (of which the OS can only see 3.2) just to be able to use my graphics programs without overly long refresh times.
Now this is just wrooooong!!

I am still using Windows XP - the reasons because I need to work on Engineering Software which are only Windows supported, I have an unsupported Canon Scanner and I like to use Adobe Software.
Otherwise I work on Ubuntu.
I am however getting myself a new computer with Vista Home Basic pre-installed.
I'll be installing OpenSUSE on a separate partition.
I heard Vista's support will come to an end on April 10 2012 ? Is that true ?
Doesn't make sense because Microsoft will continue supporting XP upto 2014 !
Either way, I'll still be using a most upto date Linux distribution - for Free. -

Nope.
I always avoid the next Windows OS until I am nearly forced into it.
In contrast, I keep my Linux distro constantly up to date at all times and upgrade the kernel within a few weeks after it is released. -
