Are you who you want to be?

Many of us claim to be doing exactly what we've chosen or are exactly who we want or planned to be. Just as many of are caught in a web that life has woven for us and aren't sure how we've gotten here. If you had full control where would your life be headed tomorrow?

We DO have full control.. ;o)
Responsibilty is half of the game.
Whats stopping you being where you want to be..thats the question. ;o) -
I think people have more control than they think, but never really have full control.
We judge people saying they made choices and sometimes that is accurate, but sometimes it's not. It's impossible to make a choice that you don't know you have; Sometimes we also have to choose the lesser of two evils, so to speak.
As for the original question - am I who I want to be? Never. I hope I'm always trying to get further in my growth.
I am doing what I'm supposed to be doing, but I'm not where I want to be yet. But that's okay, too, because I'm moving along. -
I didn't say that I didn't but I stand firm. I know several people for one reason or another who don't have control yet I somewhat agree we should. Having complete control and settling for what you have are two different things.

I see what you mean, but the way I see it is it's all perspective... there are things in my life I am not happy with, but you can really ONLY do anything about the NOW you experience.

The top post.. now I was 5 and somehow I had control, yet didn't really realise it at that time, so things work beyond what we can really comprehend. ;o)
People may THINk they don't have full control but in reality we have alot more than we think. ;o) -
I think that both extremes are flawed; many people think that they have less control than they do and so don't act to change things because they feel powerless. On the other hand, the idea that we have "full control" is pretty outrageous...a car could jump the curb and land you in traction for six months at any moment, and then you couldn't very well choose to go skiing or skydiving the next morning, could you?

We have control over how we react to the here and now. We can accept things as they are, fight to change them, or run away. We all have full control.
I am currently reading a book called "The Power of Now" It is an interesting book that I found out from a blog called "The Secret of Life." Go to my blog and follow the link to this blog to find out more.
Basically the book is telling us to find the now and to fully live in it. We can't live for the future or dwell in the past. That being said, where I am now, feels right. So yes, I am happy with who I am.-
That book was actually recommended to me by a priest a couple of years ago--a little ironic in view of some of the anti-Christian philosophy. It was interesting, though; I didn't really get much out of it in the "life altering" sense, but I happened to mention it to a friend at the time who picked it up and had a very different reaction and found it very enlightening.

Being self-aware, taking responsibility for our decisions and actions, and working toward viewing incidents and issues in a more balanced way (for instance, viewing the difficult boss as a person who has issues of their own, which we can understand and work around-- instead of merely viewing the boss as "evil" or a "nemesis", etc.) can go a long way toward helping us have more control over what we can.

I agree ThriftShop, taking responsibility or onus if you will is a major step in helping us to control what we want and RobSellen hit it on the head when he spoke of now. There's not much if anything we can do to change yesterday but "if" we want a change of any kind we ourselves have to be the responsible parties. Change doesn't just happen on it's own, we're the catalysts that start the ball rolling.

I can't ignore that.
I'd like to be the Grand Philosopher-Archivist of the Old Galactic League: that won't exist for another three millennia or so.
More realistically, I wanted domesticity since early college days. Today, I'm the husband and father of a family. With four kids, ranging from pre-teen to twenty-something, to deal with, and a household, that's sufficiently domestic for my taste.
If I had full control, I suppose we would not have lost our fifth child, a few years ago.
As far as career goes, I would continue to find better ways of creating and maintaining blogs and websites, monetize them, and attract visitors.
