I think we humans look like a menagerie of wierd and surrealistic caricatures - even the handsome/beautiful sexy nightclubber can be transformed into some spindly weedy prancing narcissus in a slidy panty with a tutu if you use a little imagination to turn cool and sexy into a greaseball primadonna..
My teacher in comic art told me he used to get his inspiration for his characters on the way to work whilst looking at the people on the Bus and train - after this i began to observe people's faces more and noticed how we humans all have faces like something out of a caricature portrait - the more you watch people (and even yourself) with this perspective in mind the more hilarious and sometimes aven abhorrent we humans all seem to look. Try coomparing each persons face to some member of the animal kingdom (i mean it is even a saying that dogs look like their owners or even owners look like their dogs) - and see which animal you would attribute to which person when you observe them.
This is a great hobby for practising whilst sitting on the public transport killing time on the way to and back from work/school/shopping etc. Just try not to burst out laughing when you see some funny comparisons. Watch people's faces how oblivious, miserable or dumb they all look (just don't forget that we ourselves must also look the same too).

Hehe my dad does this all the time. He always has funny comparisons if he meets new people. He isn't trying to be mean or something, but he always sees some sort of resemble with animals in other people.

I usually observe people in the subway, train, sitting somewhere. To get inspiration for drawing and writing.
