what makes you think social networking sites are not already being monitored? Now they are talking about legitimizing it, but it isn't really new.

If you don't write about politics or are not famous enough I don't think you'd be worth for them that's the case for the huge majority so who would finally care really

that is where you are mistaken! You just have to be an immigrant from the middle east, muslim, go to a peace rally or be a member of a peace group to be the object of attention.
Government has been monitoring and spying on ordinary americans for a number of years now.

"The Maryland State Police surveillance of advocacy groups was far more extensive than previously acknowledged, with records showing that troopers monitored -- and labeled as terrorists -- activists devoted to such wide-ranging causes as promoting human rights and establishing bike lanes. "

"Undercover Maryland State Police officers repeatedly spied on peace activists and anti-death penalty groups in recent years and entered the names of some in a law-enforcement database of people thought to be terrorists or drug traffickers, newly released documents show."

NSA has been spying on domestic and international calls for their database."The U.S. Senate is investigating allegations by two National Security Agency whistleblowers who have described widespread monitoring of innocuous telephone conversations by the Bush administration's clandestine program."

      Meet America's New Big Brother

America's Big Brother is Watching You Who's John Poindexter?
A retired Navy Admiral, John Poindexter lost his job as National Security Adviser under Ronald Reagan, and was convicted of conspiracy, lying to Congress, defrauding the government, and destroying evidence in the Iran Contra scandal.

He was the Vice President of Syntek Technologies, a government contractor. Syntek and Poindexter worked for years with DARPA to develop Genoa, a surveillance device that's a combination cutting-edge search engine, sophisticated information harvesting program", and a "peer-to-peer" file sharing system. Kind of a military-grade Google/Napster for use in instant analysis of electronic data.

What's the Information Awareness Office (IAO)?
It's a new office created by the Pentagon agency DARPA after 9/11 to gather intelligence through electronic sources like the internet, phone, and fax lines.

I pity the bureaucrat who would be assigned to monitor my activities. It'd be proven if someone could die from boredom.
    1. elitethinker
I went to your blog, I enjoyed it so much I would postulate for this bureaucrat job
    2. ThriftShopRomantic
I thought Doctor Who was already being monitored for his activities, though.
