Shameless blog promotion...I wrote an article about Autism. It's informative rather than an personal ancedote.

Good summary of the basics, particularly the fact that there is no credible study linking autism to vaccinations, mercury, or similar substances. Check the DSM-IV TR for the latest on the diagnostic criteria for autism. The current frequency is about 1 in 168 children.

Very nice post. It's nice to read information about autism that isn't clouded by fear or rumors.
@Aoi, that frequency rate is pretty frightening, is that for autism, or any autism spectrum disorders? The article I found says the frequency is 1 in 166 for autism spectrum disorders (abstract: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18724565?ordinalpos=7&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntr...). -
@annz - thanks for adding a comment. Love your avatar - is that your child? Cute, whoever it is! Happy New Year to you and your family!

busylizzy,
I didnt find your article on autism. I did read one on AHDH, which is often due to watching too much TV (brutal transition from those alpha waves).-
@harveyavatar - visit my Brains blog at brainsyourmineours.blogspot.com. It's the top article.

Read! For historical perspective on health issues, I recommend reading/seeing "Murder by injection" by Eustace Mullins.

Actually the statement that the Amish don't have any autistics is not accurate. Due to a highly structured community and an agricultural society many mildly autistic kids are not as obvious. Early Intervention services are used by the Amish.
