we all know how nice it feels to be recognized for something (we love doing anyway) and getting an award for blogging is like cherry on the top IMO. So, has your blog been nominated or won any awards? Did you have a "campaign strategy"?

If you haven't won anything yet (like me:) which award would make your day (or month, if you are anything like me)

The best award is that I seem to have made some new friends here at BC. Hopefully, that includes you.

You actually were the first friend i made on BC, so to know that i am on your "list" as you are in mine touches me deeply

Not from any recognized organizations, just from fellow blogging folks.

To me the awards come more non-tangibly from finding people actually subscribe, the comments people leave that crack me up, getting decent Google traffic-- simple things like that.

I have noticed though that being listed on the BCAs' has driven traffic to my site and I went from 0 subscribers to 10.
so i guess, i won something.
but you are right, free willing people reading, commenting and asking for more by subscribing can't be beat!

Well, that's certainly good news! Congrats.

I have one blog in the BCAs this year, but haven't noticed any traffic from it yet. (Probably should check my stats to be sure.) I have seen some in previous years.

Here's hoping more folks discover your blog this way!

Yes... I won... the best "jonny on the ball" BLOG in 2008 ! (No only kidding.... but it would be nice to win something.... but then again just some good Blogging friends.... maybe ... or perhaps some cash...?

now cash would do it for me but it would have to be more than 20.09$

Whenever people talk about awards, I am reminded of a line in Woody Allen's Annie Hall.

He said something like, "Awards! All they do in LA is give out awards. The Best Fascist Dictator Goes to Adolph Hitler."

I wonder what Hitler looked like on the Red Carpet?

I've only been blogging since March, so am still just trying to promote my blog as much as possible (as you know LV! And thank you for your vote at Bloggers Choice!)

I LOVE it though when I get a positive unsolicited comment from a complete stranger about one of my blog posts. Really makes my day.

The award I get is fulfillment and satisfaction. Blogging also serves as my catharsis and escape. That alone is a prize more than any award in blogging.

Answers: I don't think you will find my response to be a typical one and that's okay with me. I can agree to disagree without becoming disagreeable.

My blogs have not been nominated and have not won awards. I'm happy with that because I think these popularity contests and vanity awards are silly. It's a numbers game - who has the biggest army? Who cares? I don't.

You can nominate and vote for your own blog [she rolls her eyes]. The winners are those who secure enough friends vote for them to take them to the top. Generally, the same friends voting up your blog in one category will expect reciprocal voting from you in for their blog in another category ie. it's a racket. In order to vote we bloggers have to register and provide personal information to the sponsoring company and I'm not willing to do that.

What would make my day, week or month is seeing the end of such popularity contests because, IMHO, they are meaningless. My reward is the feedback I get from my readers. The feedback validates me and it's all I value, want and need.

If you can vote for and nominate your own your own blog it is kind of silly. There are too many blogs now for most of them to mean anything though in the past they meant more when blogs were not really something every tom dick and harry had. Now for many places there the site hosting the awards is a money maker - nothing more.

Agreed. All those hits go to the sponsoring site - geesh! must be nice for them.

    yeah
It's actually the link juice from people linking to the site when they are nominated that has given them the most money, one blogger called it
a large pay per post scam.
    1. timethief
Well, that's one way of expressing it.
