No, it is not wrong. You need to know what you have coming.
  2. UncleBeau
You need to stop meeting women at the bar.
  3. cookingasshole
    are you insane?
  4. jflower36
I was going to do a background check on a boyfriend, and I even gave him a heads up. Needless to say he freaked out. I didn't end up doing it, but I'm not against it. I wouldn't have a problem with someone doing a background check on me.

It is also wrong to do a checkmate on a background with potential.
    1. jflower36
      Too many margaritas Friday?
    2. Friday13
Who do you take me for, lady?!

      They were mai tais.
    3. jflower36
haha...I just had a sour apple margarita so it's on my mind..
    4. Friday13
Well, you're still putting the words in the right order.

      Um ... right? *adjusts glasses*
    5. jflower36
      right words...right order...haha
  6. nothingprofound
What if the person is all foreground? What do you do, then?
    1. Friday13
You do a foregorund check, of course.
    2. UncleBeau
with something a little harder......like moonshine.
    3. nothingprofound
Of course the person could turn out to be all foreplay-and that's a definite red flag.

Well, if you pick a celebrity as a potential mate like Lisanyc did, a background check is unnecessary!

Wow...interesting since of humor.....at least I hope that's what it is.
    2. cookingasshole
      what humor?
    3. DollinNYC
Of course she is a (future) supermodel so she has the luxury to pick and choose her mates.
    4. DollinNYC
Is JFlower talking about your blog Cooking Asshole?
    5. cookingasshole
that would be very rude if she was...
    6. jflower36
Doll's link about love letters to Scott Peterson. I wasn't referring to you cookingasshole
    7. DollinNYC
But I don't find the humor?
    8. cookingasshole
I would at least like to think my sense of humor is genuine...
    9. cookingasshole
yeah she is just a lady in love
    10. DollinNYC
You can't help who you fall in love with !
    11. jflower36
True...but you can do your best not to end up in someone's trunk with a severed head!
    12. cookingasshole
      to each his own...
    13. DollinNYC
Well, I know for a fact that Lisanyc is a champion swimmer so I don't think she needs to worry!
    14. jflower36
haha...I think she should really send the letters and see if she gets anything back. And who knows doll...maybe he has a roommate for you too!
    15. DollinNYC
She has been sending letters~ I think the guards are intercepting his replies and that's why she hasn't heard back (yet!)
      And Doll is spoken for!
    16. jflower36
I heard he was engaged anyway....
    17. DollinNYC
Well, Lisanyc has been planning their wedding, I know she has been auditioning bridesmaids!
  8. intarso
    a google search usually suffices
  9. jflower36
I'm all for background checks. No one wants to find out after they're married that they just married a pedophile or rapist.
    1. DollinNYC
oOo did you marry one of those?
    2. jflower36
Doll, no I've never married a rapist or pedophile.
    3. DollinNYC
phew ! I was worried about your safety!
    4. jflower36

      My intuition is pretty good...
  10. LisaNYC
Wow. Incredible how some people find my choice of a mate "funny." Do you know Scott Peterson? Have you walked a mile in his shoes? At least he had the guts to end his relationship with Laci, unlike some people I know who stay stuck in bad marriages forever! Think about THAT, jflower36!!!
    1. jflower36
      LOL Lisa,

Well you have a point there. I guess if you are "lucky" enough to start up a relationship with him you can be assured that he won't cheat on you because he will just "end the relationship". Hopefully it will happen fast.
  11. rcal4848
u should just figure this person out urself, don't find a document to judge them by. Just be with them and feel it out.
  12. LisaNYC
At least Scott Peterson isn't a rapist or pedophile! Every guy brings some baggage to a relationship.......if you're looking for perfection, you'll always be alone.
    1. DollinNYC
Exactly! and Scott has done the right thing and discarded all of his baggage so you two can start out with a clean slate!
  13. LisaNYC
Right. How many men are willing to do that? Many men would stay married and have affairs, and Scott only cheated on Laci for a little while with that massage therapist, until he wised-up and did the right thing. Jflower36 and other perfectionists need to stop being so judgmental and focus more on the positive attributes of others.
    1. cookingasshole
      what self-righteous aholes!
  14. LisaNYC
Picky women like those end up alone and middle-aged on shows like "Real Housewives." So sad! My advice to the ladies is to drop the unrealistically high standards! It will do wonders for your social life.
    1. jflower36
Let's think of some positives of Scott Peterson:

--he knows how to tie things up
      --he's good at "undercover work"
      --he's not afraid of death
      --he's a risk taker
      --he's a fisherman

I think it would be nice to know your potential mate's background. But how do u do a background check on someone who lives in another continent, someone you just met online? Pray, tell me...
    1. UncleBeau
ask their parents.....and then beat them all with a shovel.
  16. acousticguitarist
Oh totally, don't forget a sniff test and a DNA sample as well.

I'll tell you what's also good, do a body language course and also set up a hidden web cam
