I'm a little apathetic. I disagree with Obama on several issues, but he's the best America can offer so I guess we're stuck with him for four years.

I prefer Obama to McCain any day. McCain is a Bush retread and we need some younger, fresher blood in the White House. Palin scares the crap out of me and I wouldn't want to hope that McCain didn't bite the big one and we would be stuck with her.

Barack Obama gives me an honest, sincere feeling. I don't quite like McCain coz he look like Bush no.2. Until today I was still amaze that Bush can be president for 2 terms.

I back Obama to be the new President.

He's extremely smart, has some good ideas, and seems to honestly care about people. Of course he's got his flaws, and, ultimatly, he's as much a narcissistic power-hungry politician as anybody who gets to where he is. Nonetheles, compared to the incredible cynicism, endless sucking up to the oil companies at the expense of national security and our environment, and bankrupt policies of Bush/McCain/Palin, he seems like nothing less than a ray of sunshine.
  5. gmoney
The thinks about what he is saying, he has feeling and emotion. Not just fight fight fight.
  6. csiunatc
Like the guy, would love to grab a beer and a seat and talk to him any day.

I just believe that his solutions are wrong. And that his policies will make things worse instead of better.

I think he is extremely intelligent, well spoken when he has the time to think. Not experienced enough to be great on his feet yet.

But I keep getting the feeling that he is not being completely honest.

His "i don't recognize" comments about Rev. Wright for instance. I refuse to believe that this was the first time he heard anything of the sort coming out of the guys mouth. He should have handled that differently, as it stands now, that statement was a "Save my ass" blatant lie.
    1. dlowe
I agree with your "i don't recognize" comments about Rev. Wright comment. He could have handled that WAY different. Anyone who has ever attended a predominately African-America church is giving the gas face on that one.

I don't like good talkers. In my experience, good talkers are not good doers. And trying to motivate the American people with words doesn't work. You motivate Americans with MONEY! Cold, hard cash baby. Thats what drives Americans.

Look what happened when gas prices went through the roof. People drove less, drove down demand and drove down the prices. Hit a yank in the pocket book to get his attention.
    2. voodooKobra
I think he showed balls then. Most politicians would have dis-owned him; Obama said, "He's like a father to me." That takes testicular fortitude.

I absolutely think Obama is miles above anything that the Republicans have offered up.

csiunatc: "But I keep getting the feeling that he is not being completely honest."

LOL. Sorry, but that cracked me up. And you get the feeling that McCain is completely honest? Or any politician for that matter? Or any human for that matter?

dlowe: "You motivate Americans with MONEY! Cold, hard cash baby. Thats what drives Americans.

It's not what drives me! However, I do know the type of people you are talking about and you are right, those kinds of shallow, greedy people--wouldn't like Obama.
    1. csiunatc
actually, i do get the feeling that McCain has been basically honest.

What the problem is with Rev. Wright is that in the end it comes down to my worry that Obama isn't showing his core beliefs knowing that it would be the end to his career.

Having heard Wrights comments, knowing how much credit Barack obama has given him as a "great man" and giving him much credit for his own moral development and having heard Micelle Obamas "never proud of my country" remark.

I am wondering if there are feelings about America, and particular white america in the back of his mind that he isn't disclosing.

I sure can't hold it against him to have such feelings if he does, but i don't think it belongs in the oval office.
    2. AngieSS
      hehehe... "basically"

I can't say that I have any of those feelings about Obama, but I respect yours!
  8. csiunatc
    Basically, yes.

I'll trust any politician completely the day theres a snowball fight in hell.

I trust his honesty more than i do Obamas.
    1. AngieSS
"I'll trust any politician completely the day theres a snowball fight in hell."

Now this we can agree on!
    2. csiunatc
Isn't it sad that it comes down to who is less dishonest...

      oh well.
  9. TheSuperLiberal
I'm new around here and I might not be in the majority in the online world, but I think Obama's going to be a great and trustworthy President when he gets elected in November. He's really going to change things. Russia invaded Georgia now because he knows Barack won't let Putin get away with that crap come January.

    Obama '08...Biden '16
    1. AmmoBob
      TheSuperLiberal,

With your name and thoughts,"Barack won't let Putin get away with that crap come January" (ROFLMAO) you'll be in welcomed arms here. It appears the majority of the BC audience leans more left than right...

Obama has yet to do or say anything that makes me doubt that he's a good man and will be at minimum -- a good president. He has the potential to be a great president. I don't agree with his health care plan, though.
    1. csiunatc
Yes i agree there, he has the Potential to be a great president.

Just not yet, give him another 8 to gain experience and show his true colors and we'll see.
    2. howisbradley
The only thing I prefered about Hilary was her health plan. I'd like to see Obama put her in charge of that except that I'd prefer to see Hilary on the Supreme Court. I think she'd be excellent but not sure she'd be interested.

Other than health care Obama is the man!
    3. satijournal
"Just not yet, give him another 8 to gain experience and show his true colors and we'll see."

Well, it depends on why issues are important to you. McCain has admitted he doesn't know much about the economy. Obama has the right idea with promoting renewable sources of energy and I've been saying for years that it can stimulate the economy. He's for more drilling only as an interim solution until we can get off our dependence on oil.

With foreign policy, McCain is pretty much identical to Bush, which means wasting $100s of billions more on misguided policies that are hurting our economy and making us less safe.
    4. howisbradley
      Very well said, satijournal

Even people who like McCain I think respect Obama. The people on the right think he is not quite ready for president. He probably would make a very good future leader though. I think Obama had to pick Hillary to win this election though. I think this was a mistake not to pick her.

The McCain/Palin ticket is incredible to people on the right though. Obama needed someone that would wow people, just like Palin is doing every day.
    1. voodooKobra
I don't trust Hillary. At all. I trust Biden more than Hillary. I trust Ted Kennedy more than Hillary.
    2. howisbradley
I think Palin is a flash in the pan. She's exciting the right for sure and may continue to do so. I think (at least strongly hope) that middle America will see just how extreme right she is and the flicker will fade.

If McCain does win it will be due to Palin and not the other way around. What kind of sad statement is that?
    3. satijournal
A lot of people aren't "wowed" by Palin. So what if she seems like a regular woman who has to balance her checkbook just like everyone else. It would be nice to have the best and the brightest running the country and she's not that.
  12. kden
I agree with those that say he's got a very honest air about him. He doesn't try to say things that you want to hear. I love his wife too, she's a wonderful speaker and has true emotion for her husband and this country.

Don't trust Hillary but am glad that she stood up to support Obama.
    1. kristilinauer
"I agree with those that say he's got a very honest air about him. He doesn't try to say things that you want to hear."

ROLF!!! Oh my...thanks for that. I needed a good laugh.
    2. gmoney
oh and McCain and Palin don't pander and lie or embellish to the the Republican base?
    3. kristilinauer
G, this thread isn't about them. It's about Obama. And I have to laugh at the gullibility of some who refuse to admit that Obama is a typical politician who will say whatever he needs to say to get into office. LOL!!
    4. gmoney
ok fair point, since this is about Obama and he is a repulsive as spam (the meat) to some......... what do you think his real agenda is?
  13. timethief
What I see when I look at Palin is a misguided opportunist. IMO Palin has made her ambition her first priority and her family her second priority. To me that’s a sign of moral bankruptcy, whether it be manifest in either a man or a woman.

When I compare her speech to Michele Obama's speech, Palin's speech and pales in comparison. IMO Palin lacks the the traits, temperament, record and skills that I want in someone, who intends to hold the executive power of the American federal government, and represent the whole country, as opposed to representing only a minority faction of religious fear mongers.
    1. howisbradley
Many people have been comparing Palin's speech to Michele Obama's speech. I think that is somewhat sexist, though I don't think there's any intent on anyone's part. We should be comparing Palin with Biden. Unfortunately I missed his speech.
    2. csiunatc
      You didn't miss much.

I thought his speech was "passable" but nothing fantastic. He has been a lot better when i have seen him since.
  14. gmoney
Obama is ready. Obama is shinny new and different, he is a change in Washington. I don't want to see him with 8 more years of Washington dirt on him...... Let him get the presidency, serve 8 years and be done.
    1. csiunatc
I'd rather see him with 8 years of experience. (and maybe a reality check on his economic policies)

Washington dirt.... I'm hoping that he can stay out of getting dirty in 8 years. If he can't, id rather him not going dirty in the Oval office.
  15. globalgirl
Ah, no. Obama is no fan of mine...

I just can't get my arms wrapped around his agenda, including the Global Poverty Tax...

      another republican talking head.
here is the bill I don't have time to read all of it, I don't mind helping the rest of the world. I don't mind giving.
      frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&docid=f:s...

Bush administration agreed to the bill in it's original form
    2. globalgirl
Nah, I am not a republican... but an independent.
    3. gmoney
you are not the talking head, that goober on youtube is

    But middle America isn't liberal.

I think anyone who believes Obambi is anything other than a typical Chicago politician is a very sad person indeed.
