I did enjoy the Batman movie without question. And I was excited about it because I love Nolan's work. But to me it doesn't stand up to some of his previous work like "Memento".

It does address some interesting philosophical and ethical issues though. I was even inspired for a post.

There were also quite a few political references. When joker was talking about no one caring when soldiers die, but getting riled up when the average joe is killed. Awesome that they put that in.

I loved The Dark Knight and I have never seen Memento. Anyway, one thing that it touched upon is one hero sacrificing his reputation in order to keep a city from chaos. Then there are the political references that lotusb touches upon.

Absolutely ... well it raises questions of utilitarianism, is it ok to sacrifice a few to save many? And the Joker is the devil's advocate here, while Batman does not get away with his hands clean.
