After last years second place in the BC fantasy league I have decided that I can't let a woman beat me and have reinstated the league for this season.

So if anyone fancies joining the fantasy football league this season all you have to do is go here:
www.premierleague.com/page/Home/0,,12306,00.html

And then use this code to join the BC league:
194725-51013

The prizes on offer this season are stupendous!
1st prize: An afternoon with BC's very own ninja Anok.
2nd prize:Spend the whole day with BC's very own ninja Anok.
3rd prize: Enjoy a week with BC's very own ninja Anok.

Those aren't prizes. Those are penalties.
    1. aningeniousname
I shouldn't of mentioned the "prizes" it's scaring people off and now I have to hide from Anok.
    2. nothingprofound
Hey anin, didn't you read the correct grammar thread? It's shouldn't have-not shouldn't of. Get with it, aardvark!
    3. aningeniousname
But I'm English and whichever way I choose to use or abuse MY language is the correct way. When you Americans can come up with a language of your own then you can tell us how to speak and write it until then you shouldn't of said anything.
    4. nothingprofound
Hey, I grew up in Brooklyn and, believe me, we have a language of our own. Unfortunately, every comment would get deleted, so I'm forced to use your imperialist vernacular.
    5. aningeniousname
Well seeing that you have a tough guy Brooklyn accent I am going to let you use English anyway you like.
  2. Rory
Almost joined ... but, wrong Football!

I haven't a clue about the Premier League. LOL.
    1. aningeniousname
It doesn't matter whether you know anything about it or not. Crpitt did quite well last year and she is a woman!
    2. crpitt
      Do it anyway Rory
    3. Floormodel
I don't either but I'm a wee bit competitive so I joined. The only thing I know about it is what I learned from Family Guy.
    4. Rory
Okay ... I'm in. GO TEAM CANADA!!!!!!!!
  3. crpitt
    I was robbed!

My team is in, this year I shall win.
    1. aningeniousname
You weren't robbed you got exactly what you deserved, which was a very, very lucky third place.
    2. crpitt
I just got transfer happy, which will not not happen again.
  4. Floormodel
    what the beep, I'm in

anyone up for starting a fantasy NFL league? I do a fun one just for kin on Yahoo, I can make us one too. or we can use a different free site. let me know on my shout box.
    1. crpitt
      Woo Hoo

      Down with the Pink Donkeh
    2. aningeniousname
Nice one floor model! I look forward to thrashing you and proving man's innate superiority over woman.
    3. Floormodel
don't count your nards yet... I've beaten many a man in fantasy sports in my time.
  5. melindaville
    GO 49ers!

Oops! Wrong football, I guess (actually YOU have the wrong football!).
    1. crpitt
No YOU have the wrong football.
    2. aningeniousname
American "football" is played with hands and real football is played with....errrr that's right! feet!
So join up and learn what a real game is like.
    3. melindaville
      nuh-uh! YOU do!
    4. Floormodel
I'm a Lions fan, I always have the wrong football
    5. melindaville
I don't know anything about soccer (because everyone knows that soccer is soccer and not FOOTBALL).
    6. aningeniousname
I believe the oldest sport should have the right to the name football. Sooooooooooooo bye bye American football or as we like to call it girl's rugby.
    7. melindaville
I thought hanky panky was the oldest sport?
    8. Floormodel
      and the most fun
  6. Floormodel
ok, how do I find the league? dumb it way down for me please.
    1. crpitt
      Go here and register fantasy.premierleague.com/

Then I think it will take you to picking your team name and colours, then you pick your team. There is an autocomplete for the team picks, which is pretty good.
    2. Floormodel
ok did that, now how do I find all of you?
    3. aningeniousname
You go to the link and then register your details and then it will ask u if you want to join a league. put in the code above and you should join the BC league. Then you have 100 pounds to buy a team from all the premierships players.
      You need:
      2 Goalkeepers
      4 defenders
      4 midfielders
      2 strikers
      and a couple of subs
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
Don't forget the keepers, seekers, beaters and chasers.
    5. aningeniousname
Just hush Thrift and get your name down!
    6. ThriftShopRomantic
Meh, I'm more of a spectator.

But, you know, I'll cheer for whoever gets hit with the bludger and doff my cap to the player who gets the golden snitch.
    7. aningeniousname
You seem to have mixed up Football and Guyball.
      www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocyZ4NnPreQ
    8. gtally
Wait! Where do the Quaffle, the Bludgers and the Golden Snitch fit into all of this?
    9. ThriftShopRomantic
Lovely cone hats. I think Guyball could catch on.
    10. ThriftShopRomantic
GTally- Football, of course! Anin has it all wrong.

Of course, who wants to see that lavendar aardvark flying ABOVE us on a broom?

I mean, accident WAITING to happen. Mostly for those below.
    11. gtally
TSR -- Blech! Bring an umbrella! The aardvark has a weak bladder.
    12. aningeniousname
That's quite an insensitive remark Miss Thrifty! Lavender Aardvarks were nearly hunted into extinction because of the traditional use of Aardvark pubic hair for the Quidditch brooms.
The first Harry Potter film was the Aardvark communities Schindler's list.
    13. ThriftShopRomantic
That would explain the lavender aardvarks I saw weeping at that first film.

I thought it was simply because Hogwarts was originally called Aardvarts.
    1. aningeniousname
Brilliant! Games are every Saturday afternoon so you can check on how you team did and obviously transfer players who aren't performing.
    2. Floormodel
cool beans, I needed another Saturday sport. All I have is baseball (rounders to those who speak crooked) and that's just not enough.
    3. crpitt
      Hey less of the crooked!

You now need to get the beer in, which has to be lager.

      Also meat pies.
    4. Floormodel
I have an in for the meat pies, pasties I have a friend who sold them.
    5. crpitt
You are sure to win now
  7. nothingprofound
Since I'm crooked of body and terribly aged I'll sit on the sidelines with thriftshop and boo whichever team is winning.
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Proud to have you here! Here is your assortment of flags to wave indiscriminately.
    2. aningeniousname
Come on NP you don't want to sit on the sidelines with the girls and cheer us masculine men on. You don't want people saying you are BC's version of young George W, do you?
    3. Floormodel
or you could join and play with a few of us girls. you might even beat us,who knows. I dont know anything about it but I joined.
    4. nothingprofound
Hey, if I can play with the girls, I don't care if I win or lose.
    5. Floormodel
      well, where are you???
I just checked, where's your team?
  8. dbowles1017
Ill join. And Ill also join an NFL one if some one makes it
    1. aningeniousname
Nice one Mr Bowles! Your mum isn't called Camilla is she?
    2. dbowles1017
I wasnt making a joke or anything... And no her name isnt camilla
    3. crpitt
Nice one as an expression is not limited to funny jokes, it is also used when you do something that one likes.

Camilla joke is in reference to Prince Charles Wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

      End translation.
    4. ThriftShopRomantic
You know, Claire, if that counseling gig ever falls through, you could always start a pan-pond translational business.
    5. crpitt
It is a struggle edjumacating ewe folk.
    6. dbowles1017
I see. Thank you for translating.
    7. Rory
      It's a Commonwealth thing.
  9. Rory
Can we not see other player's teams - who they picked, etc?
    1. crpitt
Yes after it starts I think.
    2. Rory
Ah, kk. So for now my choices are a pure crap shoot, eh!??? LOL. That's fair. I do know a few of the names, as your Football does get good coverage by Canada's sports channels.
    3. Floormodel
Rory, what part of Canada are you in?

I don't know any players either so count me in on the crap shoot!
    4. dbowles1017
      just google brazilian soccer players
    5. crpitt
I can provide some tips if you like?

      I wouldn't cheat or anything
    6. dbowles1017
Riiiight. Good thing I follow(ish) the premiere league.
    7. crpitt
To be fair if you set up an NFL thingy I will do it.
    8. Rory
I'm just outside of Toronto ...
    9. Floormodel
I'm just outside of Buffalo, NY
  10. Rory
The more, the merrier ... who else will join us?
  11. aningeniousname
    Unashamed bump!
Come on people sign up for the game with the greatest prizes on earth....well ok maybe not but it's fun!
  12. runningshoes
hey I played this last season...but I wasnt a member of BC then....Erm theres another one on espnstar.com....NFC Manager.
  13. runningshoes
great....forgot the password of my old email address...gonna have new team...
  14. Rory
Okay ... some questions about playing this fantasy game.

    - Is the selection of the Captain important?
    - What's the difference between "Form" and "Value"?
    - Is Substitution automatic? When do they get put into the game?
    - Depending upon how our players perform in a given week, do we get "points" for picking up others, etc?

    That's all for now!!
    1. crpitt
      Your captain gets more points.

Form- How well they have played

      Value- based on form

If games are on separate days than substitutes are automatic, if games are on same day you have to decide who is going to the most valuable.

Not sure what you mean about the player perform thingy.

      These are all girl answers
    2. Rory
Thanks for those answers - guess a better way of asking the last question is: Are we stuck with 100 pts to man our team or do our pts increase from week to week - based upon our team's performance - so we can drop weaker players to pick up stronger players?

Or, do we have to keep within that 100 point structure throughout the whole season?
    3. aningeniousname
No you have that 100 points all the way through but if you change a 10 point player who isn't performing for a 6 point player you keep those 4 points and next time you make a sub you add those points on. So you would have the cost of the player subbed plus the 4 left over from your last sub.

Like Claire said the captain scores double so it's best to have a goal scorer or a creative midfielder as your captain.

As a general tip for you the top teams are:
      Man utd
      Arsenal
      Chelsea
      Liverpool
      Aston villa
      Man city

If you pick players from these teams as your majority you won't go far wrong.
  15. Rory
    Sounds good!!

We're up to 7 people now ... any more??
  16. aningeniousname
    Bump!
    We still need more people!
    1. crpitt
      I agree!
  17. crpitt
Also I think the BC admin should join too and organise a prize.

If ruddy purple mayonnaise gets a prize, we should too!
  18. crpitt
Season starts tomorrow so make your free transfers while you can.

    Also more people join
  19. supergreensunbear
Sure, I'll play! Came in the top 1000 last season in FPL, doubt I'll do so well this time around but I'll give it a go!

Few tips for anyone playing. GW2 see's a lot of teams not playing... try to take that into account when picking your starting lineup. This season transfers carry for a week, so if you pick a team that will play in the first two Gameweeks then you'll have 2 transfers to play with come the start of gameweek 3. You have been warned

Also more often than not, Midfield is where the big points are at. Lampard at the head of the diamond of Chelsea's midfield this season seems the best bet for a must have.
  20. Floormodel
I checked my team earlier today.... let the games begin
    1. crpitt
      Excellent
  21. kdawg68
Crpitt has informed me of this awesomeness, so count me in.

How the hell did I miss this last year???

Only question is...do I have to spend a day with Anok? Relatively conservative horses and relatively liberal ninjas can be a recipe for disaster. :-)
    1. crpitt
You can spend the day with holly instead

You missed it because you are LAME

    2. kdawg68
wait a minute...I'm a bit confused...thought this was for Amerikaniesch Fussboll?

I know nothing about "footy" - couldn't pick a winner in that if my life depended on it. Just know that the yanks never win anything big.
    3. crpitt
      Urghhh no! Tis proper football.

      Just do it.
    4. kdawg68
Ummm...how...where the heck do I put in the league code? I'm so confused. Feel like I've never been on the internets before.

      Everything is in....English! :-)
    5. crpitt
      fantasy.premierleague.com/

      make your team selection

      then

      fantasy.premierleague.com/M/myleagues.mc

      where it says create/join
    6. kdawg68
How do I pick Michael Vick?

Only kidding - I'm in. No clue whatsoever what I'm doing, but I'm in.

Haven't heard of any of these guys before.
    7. crpitt
Hehe you are a sports nut, so I don't trust you at all.
    8. kdawg68
To be honest, while I'm a multi-time U.S. "football" fantasy champion in numerous leagues, I've barely devoted any time and attention to that this year.

A certain filly named Rachel Alexandra has been somewhat dominating my attention span lately. :-)

    9. PetLvr
She looks like a beaut' there kdawg How's it hanging? ltns
    10. kdawg68
Doing pretty good - how's it been for you this year?

She's the most gorgeous filly I've ever seen. Actually had the honor of being with her in the paddock in New Jersey a few weeks ago as she prepared to become the 2nd filly in 42 years to beat the boys in the Haskell (after becoming the first filly in 85 years to beat the boys in the Preakness)...plus she's Curlin's future girlfriend, so you can say she's filled the void that was once occupied with Curlin obsession. :-)

So...back to the game...Can anyone look over my team and let me know if I've made any horrific mistakes? :-)
    11. crpitt
Can't see each others teams until first points I think? will check now.
  22. crpitt
    Let the games begin!

    Woo Hoo
    1. dbowles1017
      Your going down
    2. crpitt
      Is that the booby prize?
    3. dbowles1017
      Could be
    4. crpitt
      I must win now!
    5. dbowles1017
      You won't.
    6. crpitt
I will beat you at least
    7. crpitt
      Wager?
    8. dbowles1017
What did you have in mind?
    9. crpitt
      No idea
    10. dbowles1017
      Me either
    11. crpitt
I shall have a think on the matter
    12. dbowles1017
      Don't think too hard
    13. crpitt
      I will try not too
  23. prospor7
    i like foot ball
  24. crpitt
A stonkingly good start to the season for horsey and pink donkeh.
    1. aningeniousname
Oh yeah! I intend to win this year.
Kdawg has been secretly boning up on real football I think.
    2. crpitt
He seriously has been swatting, the big monkey liar!
  25. Floormodel
I'm mid-pack, I can handle that. for now. once I figure out what I'm doing I might get better (hopefully)
    1. aningeniousname
You did quite well. I have you down as a dark horse.
    2. crpitt
Yes you did do well, I am beginning think I need to go into hiding.
  26. dbowles1017
    Im doing awful.
    1. aningeniousname
Here's a tip, you don't really want 5 defenders. Most points come from goals or assists. Try going with 4 defenders or even 3 it will give you more chances of scoring big.
    2. dbowles1017
never mind... just figured out how to change it
    3. aningeniousname
I'd swap Neville too he is a defensive midfielder and you will never get many points off him.
    4. dbowles1017
He was just a random pick haha.
