BC News: Blogger Continues to Protest the New Anonymous Blog Rankings System

In the spirit of Mike Meyer’s extremely poignant and insightful movie “The Love Guru”, renowned Celebutante blogger of Blog Catalog, Jeunelle Foster, has taken a stance against unwarranted negative blog attacks by spammers in the BC community.

She has done the UNHEARD OF…the UNTHINKABLE…she has done what NO OTHER BLOGGER HAS EVER BEFORE HAD THE COURAGE TO DO BEFORE…she has taken down her blog thumbnails.

Did you hear that people? She is continuing to spend time on blog catalog without a registered blog!!!?!?!?! You have to do unthinkable to visit her blog...you have to COPY and PASTE!!! I am abhorred:

The “Love Guru” poignantly reminds us that “People can say bad things about us, but we MUST NEVER say bad things about our selves.” Sage advice from an adored and respected spiritual leader that protester Foster has taken to heart by removing all her blogs thumbnails from her profile page, rendering it IMPOSSIBLE for her to receive negative ratings on this new anonymous “Five Star Rating System” that has left many bloggers with their unmentionables in a bunch.

Please note: this is a parody. If you don’t get it, and haven’t laughed yet, then this is not the discussion thread for you. If you are looking for a break from all the real tragedies in the news and need a laugh then stick around.

p.s. If you are off to spam my “4 star ranking” with a thoughtful ONE star, keep in mind that my company no longer links to Blog Catalog as a positive reference when marketing for sponsors as a result of this recent negativity, so I don’t really care what you do. If your goal is to be above me in the alternative medicine or health section you can simply do that by donating money to blog catalog.

I am there based off my readership, not donation. I am bringing this to people’s attention because I promote positive thinking and community, and believe that if you don’t have something nice to say about someone’s blog…then you should at least have the courage to say it PUBLICLY. But, spam on if you must! Karma will get you in the end.

I advise all bloggers to grab a box of Kleenex before reading further in to this heartwrenching interview with Jeunelle Foster. Please share your tales of emotional woe in the comments section if you too have been emotionally damaged by this unchecked system. Remember: It's for the children:

Doc...it's horrible, yet it's exhilarating at the same time, as I am now Free from the moral constraits that society has placed on me.
I'm a Free bird that can now take the time to tune out and not follow the masses.

I mean who are these people anyhow telling me how my blog should look,
what content, color it should have and what message it should say anyways?

There not Opticians, some of these people have never made a decent sale in their miserable lives. I'm on the frontlines doing it everyday, except now I got to do it on the streets thanks to BC.

I lost everything Doc, here is my story.

I was once an aspiring Optician, running my own successful Optical practice
and a decent member of the Community but all that changed with Blog Catalog's
ridiculous Rating System.

The BC Rating System has caused me to loose my once thriving Optical practice,
causing me great pain and suffering, hate mail, death threats, loss of friends,
forcing and shunning me out of the Community.

I've lost face in the Community, sales and profits took a hard hit,
my once lucrative career as an Optician is no more, I can no longer help those in need
to see and supply them with good vision.

What saddens me the most is the fact that I was able to provide Free Eyeglasses
to small children who's family couldn't afford to purchase Eyeglasses.

Now I'm afraid I can no longer do that, the damage is done Doc.

I lost my beautiful home, as I could no longer afford my monthly mortgage payments
and now I'm forced to live on the streets. The streets is no place for anyone".

Yes BC was once a source of good source of my business traffic. This was way for me to get customers to visit my site and see what I had to offer.
It was a good way of inexpensive advertisement.
I offered the largest selection of Eyeglasses and Sunglasses on the planet.
I mean every major brand name, lenses, contact lenses, you name it. All gone now.

I even hit rock bottom as I had to sell off my stuffed lizards for cash.
Unheard of, I'll miss those guys, I mean what is this world coming to?
I even lost the desire to touch myself.

well in blog catalogs case if your blog sucks you put up 5 stars and no body cares enough to demote its suckiness, but the best blogs have 1 star so its like reverse whatever. i put up my 5 and i laugh as i see every a lister has like 1 star so i want that 1 star too

Ha! I never thought of it that way, but I think you are on to something because it does seem like the more a blog is reviewed, and the more viewers it has the less it goes down in popularity by this star system. Interesting!

I didn't want to blog anymore Doc, I just lost the love of it you know?
I mean I can't believe that some people would resort to nasty behavior.
Let's try and keep this all about being positive and that negative people spamming BC
to self promote should be stopped period.
I think if you don't have something positive to say about someone's blog
then you should just move on.
I think BC should do away with the five star rating system.
Or...if someone is going to give you a zero just to be an ass than at least there face
should show up next to it so I can go over and do the same...lol...pause...not.
I have more important things to do with my free time like create ridiculous protests
in discussion forums.
I mean right now, just trying to find a clean place to lay my head
and a soup kitchen is a full days work. I was forced to sell my gold dress.
I'm mad as hell Doc, if they can do this to me, they can do it to anybody.
I'm not one to start a panic but who knows one of you maybe next.
I'm a scorned woman Doc, they ruined me financially.

I got $800 for the gold dress. It was a Donna Karan original
and I paid $3000 originally for that dress, now sold on the streets to a prostitute
named Madame Chantelle, I'm pretty sure she was a he but in hard financial times like this, who has time to ask questions and make judgements?

You'll be surprised to know what other people are forced to do out here to get a meal.
I had to sell it because I needed to eat and I'm running out of funds.
I hoping to get back online soon so I can continue to keep hope alive
and raise awareness that I'M DOING IT FOR THE CHILDREN.

The Children have always been my main concern Doc
and I'm hoping to find a way soon to get back to helping them see.
It's a great feeling to be needed and those poor children need me Doc.

Times are tough and right now I've set up an email address for you all to send me donations so I can eat until I get back to my former glory to help the children.

It doesn't have to be a very large donation just whatever you could afford until I get back on my feet.

Then I plan to take this protest of mine to the Supreme Court.
That's right I challenge BC in the Supreme Court and let's see what they have to say about my losses. I will take a firm stand so that justice can prevail and that no one should have to go through what I had to go through or the sufferings I had to endure.

Other people would break under normal circumstances but I am of strong mind and body
and determine to once again be a valued member of the Community and be able to provide Free Services for those poor children in need.

By doing what I've always done and that is provide my services
to those in need. Saving face in the Community, providing Free Eyeglasses
to those who can't afford to purchase them, finding ways to make people see.
Vision is everything Doc, it's my life.

Doc I was able to purchase a little over 5000 pairs from a Chinese manufacturer and was also able to get the Lense companies to comply
and provide Free lenses too. That money went a long way.

I suspect it was one of my local competitors
(AskMeIfEyeCare Optical)who is also a BC Member that ratted me out
and helped to cause me financial loss, pain and suffering.

My competition wanted me out of the way so they could run the show
but do they offer Free Eyeglasses to needy Children? Heck NO.

In fact they jack up the price 3 times and then appear to be providing them with a discount when in fact after their ridiculous discount, the price would end up at the price I already have marked in my store without any mark up and mark downs.
A Total Gimmick and RIPOFF.

Well for starters BC should come clean, realize their error and take steps to reform.
Not for my sake, for the Children's sake.
Holding those responsible for their unmerited negative ratings brought forth by personal bias views and creating an environment that's positive and workable for all BC Members
while checking any underground negativity at the door, would be a good start.

  Thank goodness we were able to talk some sense in to the administrators. Thank you for your cooperation. We will continue to protest silently with vigilence and not distract the rest of the community from their incessant arguing about politics, religion, sex, and baking soda.

I say, let the star feature be optional and let the blog user have the option of deleting mean spirited comments.

  Hi Global Girl- That is a great point and I think that if you have a personal blog, that having a rating system on it is counterproductive. I also find it non-constructive for someone to give me a one star and not say why. If you don't like it then say why, or tell us how we can improve, to me this place should be about community and growth.
  
  A lot of people were upset when the "Popular Blogs" feature was removed from the home page, but I think it was a blessing. BC needs to remove the competitive aspects from the community because it is not in anyone's best interest but the spammers.

  On a serious note: My biggest concern though is that other bloggers not as vocal or opionated as Jeunelle are also upset by this and have possibly been detoured from blogging as a result. Some people are very sensitive and they should have the CHOICE to be rated by others or not.

just to let you guys know, now that we launched the new search www.blogcatalog.com/search the ratings are at the top of the list. I think we decided to do away with the one click anonymous ratings and require that all ratings incude a written review.
