Discussions

It's a place to share and rate recipes along with find great food blogs. Well at least that's the idea. We don't have any food bloggers on there yet though there are a few hundred recipes that have been submitted.

There's also a discussion area focused solely on food. This means most of the BC team will probably be hanging out there all day as that seems to the dominant topic of conversation in our office.

Check it out if you have a chance, sign up and please let us know what you think. The site is www.halfhourmeals.com

Oh, and if you have food related blog, restaurant blog, wine or anything related, feel free to list it.

Must admit I very much enjoy the "visualness" of the site. It's very inviting and appealing to the eye.

I'm sure Cathy will love to submit some of her recipes. I'll 'nudge' her to send some in.
    1. TonyB
Nine does amazing creative designs. And LOVES Pizza and Burgers.
  7. owlbarn
Is the site down? I haven't visited the site yet but it sounds super cool.
    1. owlbarn
Still doesn't work. Is it just me?
    2. cookingasshole
      it works for me now...
    3. owlbarn
I tried on Chrome and IE but I keep getting "DNS error - cannot find server"
  8. wagerwitch
Sorry, 'www.halfhourmeals.com' does not exist or is not available.
  9. tcinvestor
Great site. I'm in & registered. Looking forward to it.
  10. Stillthinking
still not working. I closed and reopened Firefox. Nope.

I tried to access it from Google and it didn't work from there either.

I think I have been banned...
  11. wagerwitch
Angie - would love to be able to get in - but Alaska hasn't been able to hit the DNS registry for it yet.

    Sowwwy.

    But I'll keep trying.

Sounds like a yummy site so far!

I have Award winning Mashed Taters recipe.
    1. AngieA
try leaving out the www. for now, just type in the name and see what happens
    2. Stillthinking
      That worked! Nice site.

I will see if I can come up with anything to contribute.
    3. AngieA
      Great Stillthinking
  12. wagerwitch
In - but no email from there yet - to complete sign up.

Looks great - nice colors - very easy on the eye.
  13. Anniepooh
Well, I can't get in so far, but you know darn well I'll be there when I can be!
    1. Shiley
      Long time no see!
    2. Anniepooh
I stopped by the other day - but really quickly. I'm so busy lately I hardly have time to breathe. How's you?
    3. crpitt
      Hey dude
    4. Shiley
Doing well! We have shingles on our house and we begin homeschooling in Sept. We are hoping to get in our home no later than Sept as well.
    5. Anniepooh
      Yo, dude. How's mum?

Shiley - woot! We are HS the 5 yr old this year. He was dx with Asperger's and needs some extra help with a few things, so he's staying here for K.
    6. Shiley
I felt it was necessary for us too. Our 6 yr old was always bring home papers that state he doesn't listen or follow directions. I'd rather go this route than to medicate or place him in a class where he can't excel.
  14. trailofpen
Finally, I have a place to share my half hour peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe! Ohh yeahhh!
  15. cathy13
What a wonderful idea. The site is very well constructed and easy to navigate! I really like it!
  16. blackjava
well, I tried to get there but it keeps coming up as address not found.
  17. Theresa111
Stop, you're making me hungry already.
  18. bettieblogger
I'm trying to get in but it seems there isn't a door ...
  19. Shuttercraft
you should add cooking for assholes to the blog list on that site.
    1. cookingasshole
I am on there now and already got my first scathing review. Foodies hate on me because they are jealous of my mad skillz.
    2. DollinNYC
Rachel Ray is going to be mad if she finds out
    3. cookingasshole
      finds what out?
    4. DollinNYC
I posted that in the wrong place.

Isn't her claim to fame the "30 minute meals" ??
    5. cookingasshole
      Oh yeah! I think so...
  20. PetLvr
Yeah .. there are some major DNS issues happening with this site - did you move it recently from another server??

Although, it always seems to be down for me - the site is apparently up... according to this:
    downforeveryoneorjustme.com/www.halfhourmeals.com/
  21. RecycleCindy
The site isn't working for me using ff with or without the www.
  22. bettieblogger
finally got it and the site look fantastic, great job!
  23. deoangel
Wow! Love the layout...Now I am hungry
  24. bettieblogger
ok Tony, you talked me into it, my blog is awating your approval.
  25. SaNn
    this is great
  26. gtally
Thanks, TonyB. I'll check it out!
    1. TonyB
gtally, any "secret" recipes to share?
    2. gtally
Not at this time. I hope I will have more to say about food and wine pairings once I have taken a few more certification courses.
  27. timethief
Do we have to have a cooking blog to submit recipes? Or can we just join and post recipes without registereng a cooking blog?

My cooking blog is a mess. I have some recipes ready to go but the rest are in need of major work. The blog is marked "private" and will stay that way until I have time to sort it, apply some SEO and then make it "public".
    1. crpitt
I will never be starting a food blog, but it would be cool to post recipes every now and then.
    2. timethief
I have cardboard boxes full of handwritten recipes I have yet to type up and enter into my blog. Some I have already posted into threads here and I could easily post them at half hour meals, provided we are allowed to do that without registering a blog there.
    3. AngieA
No, you do not have to have a blog in order to submit your recipes.
Only thing that is required is to make sure they are under 30 mins.
    4. timethief
Yay! I'll get some together then. Thanks for answering me.
    5. crpitt
I think that will be the hardest thing for me lol. I will have to test out some things.
    6. AngieA
Yes, it is also hard for me. I also have to do some testing.

TonyB was getting on my case just a few days ago as he was saying, “Angie, how come you haven’t submitted any recipes yet. You of all people can cook and you’re a great cook, hurry up and get some submitted”. But I said to him..” "I can't really do that now, B/C I don’t measure anything or know half the time what I am doing. I just start to chop some of this and that and whatever I see that is there, as in a little bit of this and that and somehow it just comes together. I am not a real cook, I am what you call a lucky cook most of the time. And I don’t have names for the meals, just more like, taa daaa….here you go".
I couldn’t even tell you how many people it should feed when I make something.
The only answer I have for number of severing per dish would be “a lot”. lol
    7. crpitt
Angie you have just described my cooking style lol
    8. cookingasshole
just call yourself a 'concept cook.' That makes it sound fancy.
    9. AngieA
      COOKINGasshole,

What a great idea, I love it and you as well.
  28. PotatoChef
Starting the middle of September I'll be posting 100 Recipes in 100 Days.

I've reached out to the community at Half Hour Meals to include them. You can read about it on their discussion board.

Half Hour Meals seems to be a great site. Still a few bugs to work out but a great site none the less.

About time foodies got a place of their own!!!
    1. AngieA
      Sounds great
