Because of gods love for us, he nailed his son to a cross

How exactly is this a good thing?
Christians always throw that one out with tears in their eyes. Let's examin it for a moment:
1.) If you were an orphan and were told by your case manager that the next family to check you out loved their other son so much they nailed him to a cross, would you rather stay in the orphanage or go to wacko land?
2.) I know. That was to forgive us for our sins. . . . . OK. Maybe instead god could have not nailed his son to the cross and forgave us anyway. It's god, it can do that sort of thing.
3.) God is everywhere. So when Jesus was on earth, god saw him all of the time. Where is the lost in that. Is not like I wanted to help some tribe in the rain forest for 30 years without a phone call. God was right there all the time.
4.) This is the god of plagues and malaria and war and flesh eating bacteria and cancer. So his son got nailed to a cross for half a day. Suck it up. There are a whole lot worse things that happens every day that god to take away.
5.) When people die where do they go? To god! So when Jesus "died" on the cross it was like having to take Amtrack home for spring break. Uncomfortable and a little smelly but by the end of the day, dad's getting you a beer from the fridge and you get to sleep in your own bed.

And like Jesus, Amtrak has to pay the ransom for the sins of the railroad corporation that didn't bother to maintain the track so that you crashed and died in a fiery wreck, cause that was part of the sweetheart legislation that allowed RR's to get out of that essential part of their original condition of charter--that they had to serve the public good by carrying passengers in exchange for being deeded land in perpetuity... oops, off topic a bit, my bad

Examine Jesus' resurrection
Jesus' resurrection after his death is purportedly the ultimate and defining proof of Jesus' divinity. Just about everyone knows the story, which is summarized in the Apostles' Creed. Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
There are bible several bible passages claiming Jesus appeared to hundreds of people a number of different times 200 years ago. It really is odd. Apparently Paul benefited from a personal meeting with the resurrected Christ. Because of the personal visit, Paul could see for himself the truth of the resurrection, and he could ask Jesus questions.
So... Why doesn't Jesus appear to everyone and prove that he is resurrected? According to bible passages there is nothing to stop Jesus from materializing in your kitchen tonight to have a personal chat with you. And if you think about it, Jesus really does need to appear to each of us. If Paul needed a personal visit from Jesus to know that Jesus was resurrected, then why wouldn't you?

Indeed if Jesus truly was/is God (omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent) then it would appear that he killed himself knowing the he would be resurrected, so why doesn't he appear and clear up this age old mystery for us?-
A Christian would say that when you see someone making a kind or selfless act the you are seeing/ choosing not to see Him.
Besides that He is always putting in appearances. On bits of toast, half eaten tacos and windows. All sorts of stuff. e.g.

What more do you want, Christ on a stick? (Although technically speaking you have already had that)

Let us decide ourselves
Isn't that what we all do now? Despite being brainwashed to be a Christian as a child and despite having a Bible College education twice over, I found my own spiritual pathway. In fact, being exposed daily to a year proselytizing on this forum has done a marvelous job of reassuring me that I am on the correct pathway.
I could care less what others believe in, provided they keep their beliefs to themselves in shared spaces like this one, and do not attempt to convert me.
