I have read some successful bloggers who claim they don't read other blogs, how ever experience has taught me that in order to be successful, you should study the work of others in your field who are successful .

Just as big companies study their competition in order to see what has brought them success

So whats your take on this topic?

    Yes! Not only for the networking aspect - but reading other blogs particularly those better than your own can help you improve your own blog.

    It's like anything else, art, writings, music, sparring - when you study those who have gone before you, or contemporaries who are trailblazers you'll find information that you can use to improve.

      Hey Anok

      I totally agree with that. I have been blessed to meet so many talented bloggers.
      P.S You are one of the bloggers I have in the article That I am a fan of. I was inspired by the fact that a case of identity theft got you blogging.

      Oh wow, thanks GNR - you're awesome. I really should do a similar style post but I've been a lazy blogger lately

      Many of the threads and tips you've given have helped me out a lot as well.

      Hey Anok
      People are always talking about the bigger bloggers but some smaller blogs have some great content and are flying below the radar. Just wanted to share with my small following.

      What makes a blog "better" than another one though? Isn't that subjective to the person reading it?
    5. acousticguitarist
      but what if yours is the best like yours and mine?
    6. acousticguitarist

    That's very true I am a big fan of Holly the housewife's blog ever since I became a devoted follower I can't move in my blog for men in white sheets and strait jackets.
    That's the power of networking.

      Hey aningeniousname
      That blog name sounds familiar is it on Blogcatalog?
    2. aningeniousname
      Do you know what, I believe it is.
    3. maryse
      @anin Do I have to be a housewife to get your attention?
    4. thegnr
      Thanks anin
      I found the Holly the House wife blog it looks interesting. I booked marked it and will read it later tonight.
    5. aningeniousname
      @Maryse, Naked pictures always get my attention.

      @Gner, I wouldn't bother reading it, I was just indulging in some Holly baiting in the hopes she would send me filthily depraved Emails.

      @Glen
      No, that hollythehousewife blog is no longer registered at BC. And "no" it's not interesting. Just reading it and having your avatar appear in the BC widget that she failed to delete from her sidebar, means you may receive hate comments on your blog, as that's what happened to the rest of us. The woman is shall be say "disturbed"?

    reading other blogs can be fun and interesting, so i think it's definitely a good idea to read others' blogs. also, you might be interested in their topic, exchange links, etc. and it's even more worth your while.

      @hmfishy

      I agree with that I have even noticed that most of my subscribers are other bloggers, Oonly another blogger can truly relate. Im happy that I joined blogcatalog it is way better than some other blog networking sites.

    @JamCan

    To answer to this question is something you would have to address on a personal level. You would need to ask what goals have you set with respect to blogging.

    And if I used the term "better blog" in my article I should have used the term ""successful blog""

    I just reread my article and I never used the term "better blog"
    I used "successful blog"

    Thanks for including my blog Glen. I appreciate it. I do use the terms "better blog" and "better blogger" too. This is my blog description:

    one cool site blogging tips contains Tips and Tutorials on How to Become a Better Blogger, How to Build a Better Blog and where to find free Blogging Tools and Resources.

    I read the following blogging related blogs.

    I also read these blogs on a rotational basis.

    I'm usually reading while I'm multitasking at work. Right now I'm also doing some contracted work. What I'm currently struggling with is making enough time to leave comments.

      @ timethief
      I had to include you in my article your blog is one that I read most often.
  6. HalfCrazy
    I do follow other people if I find their posts very interesting. But really, some of my followers, don't even remember to drop by my blog. Like seriously, why are they my followers? lol
    1. thegnr
      @HalfCrazy

      Are you talking about subscribers to your blog?
    2. thegnr
      @ Halfcrazy

      I went to your blog. I thought you were kidding when you said
      "I pretty much blog about anything under the sun! Bear with me in case of my randomness... and craziness!"

      In all of the blogs I have ever read, I have never came across one like yours.

    @thegnr
    FWIW Blogger has recently introduced a "followers" feature (other blogspot blogs) and many bloggers here use Blogger software so that's usually what blogspot bloggers mean by "followers".

    @halfcrazy
    Am I right? I what what you are referring to? or are you using "followers" in a general sense?
    1. HalfCrazy
      Sorry, didn't made that clear. The followers feature in Blogspot.
    2. thegnr
      Hey timethief
      Thanks for clearing that up for me.
    3. timethief
      @HalfCrazy and thegnr
