We all must make decision in everyday life. This means that we often have different decision making processes. What are the ingredients that define your decision making?

    Whether or not I want to

    You know what - Most people never make the decision in the first place. So if you just make the decision and go with it - you will be waaaaaaay ahead of the pack. It is ok to make a mistake - just decide and go go go

      I'm not sure what this means. We make decisions all day, every day. Some of them are significant and some small and relatively inconsequential, but there are a lot of them. And in the instance that someone turns the other way and doesn't take any action at all, that's still a decision.

      He might mean that a lot of people act on impulses and emotions.

      I think he is saying that Action accomplishes more than deliberation.

    Usually decisions are based on experience and values whether we acknowledge it or not. Life experiences play a huge role in our decision making process.

    Before I make a crucial decision I always stop and think to my self what would Judas do.

      And will there be ants?
    2. ekim941
      Oh, to make "Crucial" Decisions I need a case of beer and a quarter

      Of course ants are crucial to any moral decision but the overriding factor is always what would Judas do. I find a calm evaluation of every decision always results in a Judas like decision.

    Kinda depends on the situation and decision, right? I mean, how I decide to handle a case of plagiarism at university and how I decide what to eat for breakfast are two different processes.

    I usually react and act on a whim and don't give much thought to anything.

    You have to make decisions quick in order to succeed in business.

    As MadameX pointed out we make all kinds of decisions both large and small every day. The greater the potential consequences, the greater the need for careful decision-making.

    To help identify important decisions, ask yourself these four questions:

    1. Could you or someone else suffer physical harm?

    2. Could you or someone else suffer serious emotional pain?

    3. Could the decision hurt your reputation, undermine your credibility, or damage important relationships?

    4. Could the decision impede the achievement of any important goal?

    When faced with a decision, I automatically think how will my choice affect my sons.

    Weigh best case scenario versus worst case scenario for all choice-paths and then usually just go with my first impulse anyway, because that have always turned out correct for me.

    Have been pretty much how I've decided anything major in my life.

    I rely on my gut instinct which has been honed by years of making mistakes. Now its completely trustworthy.

      @carlgalloway
      Me too and I appreciate you sharing that ... lol
      We are capable of learning equally well from failure as we are from success.
      I'm learning how to rely more and more each day on my intuition.

      I now do the opposite of my gut instinct because it always used to me in trouble when I followed it.

    @Chelle
    Yeah but that's only when hormones and stuff like that are driving decision making, right?
    Thinking things through and weighing out the possible "damaging" consequences settles my gut.
    1. offendedblogger
      Yeah, it's the hormones!!

      OK, not really, I just have a horrible sense of judgment but at least I am to the point in life where I recognize it and can admit it, right?!

    I was just ribbing you.
    When I wasn't stuttering ...
    When I make decisions that are BIG I really do go through the process of checking out possible consequences but, in most cases, the conclusion is what my gut told me from the start.
