We've always had overated bands in commercial music

try this for musical content instead of some of the MacDonalds or Kentucky Fried garbage. A vocal line in 3 languages and band with a social conscience

Funny, I just posted about growing up in the 80s and being the only kid around without cable and MTV--

It was like missing out on a huge part of general kid society then!

(Out of topic) When you say FOB and P!ATD is too low for you, you mean classwise? Some of us do listen to FOB and P!ATD in the same Ipod that carries Lynyrd Skynyrd, Massive Attack and Bjork!

I meant key-wise. Singing the song. Soprano versus alto or bass

      It was a joke.

Is that a drummer or a mad drum machine? fascinating stuff
    2. RTBjr73
That is SWEET!!!!! Gonna have to put that on my MySpace page.
    3. acousticguitarist
Do you mean that Bleed is sweet...I thought it was scary
    4. flamingpoodle
That's a drummer, on this album.

On the previous album (Catch Thirtythree), they were pressed for time, and did actually use a drum machine. The drum machine was constructed with samples from drummer Thomas Haake's drumkit and dubbed Drumkit from Hell.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drumkit_from_Hell

The band usually records demos with the machine, after which Thomas learns them on a real kit. It is a commercial product, and has been used by Devin Townsend for his album Ziltoid the Omniscient.

Woah! That was absolutely awful, if you don't mind me saying so. Where the heck does all that cacophonic rage come from?
    6. RTBjr73
      @acousticguitarist

I meant sweet as in the music. I am a Meshuggah fan. But as Flaming Poodle probably can tell, my musical taste is diverse. I am also a fan of Mudvayne, Tool, and Spineshank.

I also like the classic Metals. Hair, black, death, Nu Metal, speed...I have played them all in the past.

I would like to think I have a well rounded taste of metal.
    7. flamingpoodle
@Timethief: I don't mind you saying that at all

All that rage comes from the shadow self. According to Jung, the shadow may be dealt with by denial, projection, integration and/or transmutation. I guess Meshuggah prefers projection and/or integration.

Amazing animation, even by todays standards.
    2. flamingpoodle
Agreed! Especially by today's standards. I think they actually drew that.. by today's standards, you don't need to be able to draw in order to animate.

(I still think you need to be able to draw, but technology makes things easier)

I'm fond of Radiohead's - No Surprises video. I have a tape that shows the making of this one.
The video is a close up of him in some sort of head sized aquarium that slowly fills up, with water. Thom Yorke had to shoot it over and over until he held his breath for long enough for the piece.

That and I just love this song.

I've seen this video before. Very creative. Wonder how many times they had to re-shoot this?
