With an air of diffidence and humility which may have become familiar, I'd like to suggest

"Through One Dad's Eye - Raising a family and building websites in small town America ( smalltowndad.blogspot.com/ ).

    It's brilliant! incisive! profound!

And I should know: I write it myself!

  7. hinioman
I like mine because of my passion in taking pictures. So almost each post goes with a picture. My layout as well as content has many rooms for improvement. hintheman.blogspot.com

As for a recent personal blog that I truly admire and relate to is this one:
othejoys.blogspot.com/ as it talks about the joys in raising kids in the author's daily struggles between work, life and family. Very funny sarcastic, full with wits, and good read for me.
    1. rileycentral

Mine is a new "bog" about a Macrobiotic diet and being a parent (and being me of course):

    macrobioticmom.blogspot.com
    1. People
Finally. Were you the only one who noticed that or was everyone else too polite to say anything?
    2. rileycentral
Ha! You caught my typo. Did you know that bog means dead mummy body?
    3. jpearce
You mean as opposed to live mummy body? Ok well don't tell anyone. I don't want to jinx it. Please don't ask me "jinx what?"
  18. EavesdropWriter
I like my friend Cat's personal blog. It's quite funny and thought provoking, too.

    ultrajam.blogspot.com

bogs, quagmires, swamps, all the same to me! Each with its own character, dangers, amazing wildlife. I saw a documentary on the Okeefanokee (spelling is off I'm sure, sorry) and it was enthralling and frightening at the same time. There is a salt marsh at the tip of manhattan with amazing wildlife, things you would'nt expect to see in such an urban environment.
  20. rileycentral
Oh yeah, it's not a mummy huh?

    thanks
  29. rileycentral
Well thank you to everyone. I've read all the blogs above and put several on my Google Reader. That's the tool I use to get to know new blogs over time.

I have noticed that, while they are all impressive, most seem to be simple 2 or 3 line entries with an occasional pics. Ironically enough, these are the ones that have the most "elaborate" themes and widgets every which way but loose.

What I like to find and read are the ones where the blogger takes the time to illustrate a thought, from life, with WORDS. Pictures should be secondary in my view.

I have a long term goal to have anywhere from 50-100 blogs on my blogroll that are in this zone. Not blurby and not commercial. Thought out writing that gives me a chuckle or maybe even a tear once in a while. If you know of any like this, pls post the uri here. Thank you!
    1. ender
you can try mine ... lately it's been some artwork, but go back just a little further and there are plenty of words. some say too many words.

been reading . . . like your blog a lot. One complaint: the top graphic is linked to Photobucket. I recommend changing it to link to your front page, otherwise you lose people and they get frustrated.

If you are looking for words, you can try mine. I write mostly about what I learn from life as I live it. Most of my posts usually end in a question to keep you thinking. There are a few funny/witty posts in the "word play" category, but feel free to check it out:

Anybody in this thread on Twitter?

I started another thread looking to find interesting "personal blog" style Twitterers . . . if you Twitter, do tell!

  43. doglington
Rileycentral, you say you want a personal blog with lots of words? Check out mine! I just can't seem to restrain myself and my posts are long. And hopefully humorous as the situation is pretty weird. We're reliving our own episode of Green Acres, transitioning from City living to a 40 acre vineyard and organic farm in Sonoma. My blog is chronicling my move from marketing to farming. leftcoastcowboys.blogspot.com

It's going to be a long journey -- with lots of unexpected twists along the way -- which is why I'm trying to get it all down in Cyberspace.

Y don't you try www.writinerary.com . Just to get an idea of it.

www.robsellen.com is pretty personal, but... ;o) you decide.

As it's got words like you like, but IS it a blogger one??...doubt you would guess that though. ;o) What ya think?

Mines at least partly a personal blog: yogaforcynics.blogspot.com
  53. inmyredhead
This thread has reminded me that I have gotten off the original path of where i wanted my blog to go. Yes, it's very personal right now, but I've been writing about 'right now in my life' as opposed to chronicaling my past as I originally meant to do. So if you visit, just start from the beginning, lol. Only my first few posts stuck to my purpose.

It's been hard finding the 'voice' I want to talk about my really twisted past. But thanks for the reminder to keep trying! I was actually about to give it up, lol. I do love to write and explore feelings and thoughts through text so there is plenty of that there. Not the best at all, but it meets your other criteria, lol.. wordy and personal. :-)
