Best Thing Of 2008?

In your opinion, what was/is the best thing of 2008?
It could be media like an album, movie, or video game. Maybe the outcome of the presidential election or just the ousting of Bush. Perhaps it's the completion of the Large Hadron Collider or the discovery of something. Don't include anything personal, just things that we all share.

    The best thing of 2008 is that Reggie the Alligator is in the LA zoo instead of that pond. We all get to pay our respects to him, even if he is hopping mad after recapture when he climbed up that wall to get out again.
