Microsoft is now seeking patent for office “spy” software.

The system would allow managers to monitor employees’ performance by measuring their heart rate, body temperature, movement, facial expression and blood pressure.

Because that's the logical step before reading their thoughts.

That does make a worker feel like a chicken in a very small cage who can't do anything but eat and lay eggs.

It definitely reminds me of 1984

At least you can quit on a manager. You couldn't just quit the government in 1984. At least so far, they aren't one and the same. But they can easily become that given the right conditions.

Well, imagine this kind of software implemented at Federal Agencies. The underlying idea is the same. You can quit on a manager but how many jobs can you switch to in this kind of economy?

Hey, at least it's not as bad as the behavioral screening they plan on introducing at airports:

    Yay for 1984!
