Is Chrome really "Incognito" when it is busily leaving some of it's browsing history in Internet Explorer?

Do you delete your browsing history in Firefox? Well you should delete Internet Explorers history as well because it is recording some of your Firefox activity. Even if you never use Internet Explorer.

If you value your privacy and think using Chrome Incognito or deleting Firefox history protects it, think again.

Got something to hide, do we?

Of course. However, Polybore is afraid that there is a rather boring explanation as to how Polybore found this out.

CodeSucker would like to thank Polybore for bringing this to his attention.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to check out that article/entry tonight

Chrome was supposed to be the messiah of browsers, but knowing Google it's just a matter of time before everything good goes to _hit over spyware

At least we got to use Adsense for a while - Chrome was never offically 'done'

    What's Googles problem these days?

Google has become such a huge player with diverse interests so quickly how it is managed effectively Polybore just does not know.

Bit surprised they have included an incognito mode on Chrome that does not work. They should at least warn users that some browsing activity in incognito mode leaves history. Very easy to find history at that.

It would be very helpful if someone would like to have a go at replicating Polybore's findings regarding this matter. Firefox or Chrome dumping history in Internet Explorer when streaming .avi or .wmv video (probably the same for wma come to think of it, have not tested this though).

    Yeah same thing with .wma

Officially done with Chrome - it's crashed on me with 100+ tabs in multiple windows open one too many times - the whole "process-per-tab" stuff is all marketing fluff too, I guess (all windows crash no matter what)...

Going back to Firefox, sure will miss the ability to drag tabs around and close all opened by / to the right of a tab - anyone want to help hack that into the next Firefox?

Polybore uses Chrome for casual browsing. Serious work style browsing and Polybore trundles out Firefox or IE8.
