If you were a BC admin, what rules would you put in place.
What would you ban?
What would you change?
Who would you ban?
Who would you make another admin?

I would ban people who say that just because they looked at my blog and clicked my ads, that I should do the same.

      same its annoying!

Seriously though mark those remarks as spam. The button actually works if enough people actually use it.

    What would you ban?

    Any SPAM requests.

But - I would put up a POP UP that says - CLICK here with a check box - so that PEOPLE UNDERSTAND CLEARLY that they do NOT link drop - and shout box link drop or shout box ADD ME/COMMENT ME - I'll ADD/COMMENT You - type of stuff.

    What would you change?

I would Feature Different blogs in a special POP up - do Blogcast/PodCasts.

I would Interview Random Bloggers - and post those interviews around the site - so people would search them.

I would make different areas for blogging resources, more chat rooms that don't show up in the GENERAL Chat...

    Who would you ban?

Uhmmmm... I dunno that I'd ban ANYONE unless they were outright constantly RUDE and ANNOYING to EVERYONE - not just me - but to EVERYONE... FlameWars people go to the top of the list --- not just annoying people.

Who would you make another admin?

Hmmmmmm - Don't know... It would have to be someone who could be fair - kind and considerate of others.

I would first make a list of changes I would like to see, and then research the probable advantages and disadvantages to the community that may be expected if my suggestions were implemented.

Secondly, I would narrow the field and eliminate any changes I could not provide "community advantages" for from my list.

Thirdly, I would invest time and energy into developing a well written presentation of my suggestions, including the potential advantages to the community of implementing them.

Fourthly, I would I would communicate all of my suggestions for improvement to Admin directly by way of email using the contact information link found at the bottom of every BC page. www.blogcatalog.com/contact/

i will not allow to comment on discussion threads older more than 20 days.
    1. WillIAm2009
      whys that?
    2. codesucker
I kinda see the point here. Once a discussion drops off the front pages it mostly dies.

This sucks because there are some great discussions out there that won't see the light of day again.

For some reason I sense that reviving discussions is discouraged. CA sent me a pm about how he was going to start a thread but decided against it because I had started a thread with the same name months ago.

I didn't know what to say, I wish he had started the discussion, it would've been a good one, mine fell of the charts before much notice.

I see alot of superold threads are revived for spam purposes, I never really see old threads revived for good reasons - this should change, I don't know about a set time limit, but reviving good old discussions should be encouraged. I'm rambling but the point is that I wish CA would have started that thread, regardless if another already existed. The original thread was so old that he probly didn't want to comment on it - we should talk about this, I want to see what everything thinks

i think old threads should have the ability to be revived. if people want to discuss it, why not bring it back?
    4. timethief
      @cordesucker
I agree with jaybetee. I'm puzzled as to why you think posting to old threads with honorable intentions (ie. to share new and relevant information) is discouraged. I haven't seen that happening.

I don't think any member ought to be hesitant about posting to an old thread if what they intend to post is something relevant and new. And I've never seen a member chastised for adding a relevant comment to an old thread.

However, as you have observed, this isn't what we most commonly witness. What we witness every day is that the vast majority of older threads are being resurrected solely for link dropping purposes.

How does one become an admin?
Not that im saying im anywhere good enough, but i think some people do a admin role even though there not!

I recognize that you are only 17, and don't have much life experience or working experience either, so I'll try and help you as best as I can.

How does one become an admin?

I don't know. What I do know is that BC is a privately owned business. I think your question would be best directed to Admin. If you are looking for a job you could use the contact link and ask if there are any job openings, and if there are, then you could have a job description/application emailed to you. www.blogcatalog.com/contact/

Not that im saying im anywhere good enough, but i think some people do a admin role even though there not!

BC is member driven community, and that means that when one member asks a question in a forum thread and another member knows the answer they provide it.
