I agree. Here's a funny video about Twitter.

hmm, most of people use Twitter just want to promote their blog/product (including me) so most of people will ignore when they saw link.. huhu but in blog catalog people here will visit if they think it is deserve to be visited.. (what i'm talking about) haha

BlogCatalog is the premiere social network in cyber space, while Twitter, is a playground where you want to hang out because it is fun. Here at BC it is a place whereby you find and enhance your ties with a community of like minded writers and talented people.

LOVE that twitter video! I haven't been here long, but it seems like they're 2 completely different things. I'm enjoying this so far. Twitter, not so much.
  4. mcskeleton
Love twitter. Love love love. But Twitter has a broader purpose than Blog Catalog does, too. So they both have their own needs they meet.
  5. samureyed
This is why im going to invent Twitter Catalog!!!@@@!111 Whos with me!?....
    ...

    ....anyone?
  6. Bplum
I actually completely disagree. The groups here at BlogCatalog seem dead, while at Twitter there's always a lively discussion involving people in my line of work or blogging about the same topics Iam.
  7. TZY
Blog Catalog and Twitter belong in different categories. So, I disagree.
  8. Nichetraffic
They actually fulfill two different purposes. It's like comparing apples and pears
    1. JoseSinclair
well, are you getting more apples or more oranges? I'm just interesting in where to get the most hits... that ought to be easy to see..
from my admittedly biased perspective, Twitter seems to be for teenage girls who go shopping to pacify their gratification needs, the same type that keep Britney #1 on all the search engines..

after all, her life and loves are more important than wars, worldwide depressions, rampant bankruptcies, piracy, or how to survive..

I'm lost in today's world of superficiality, I've sunk a lot deeper in my half century of turmoil..
  9. Nichetraffic
And no video at that link.

Blogcatalog is transforming itself into another form of social medium. I am gaining readership for my blogs
  11. yooray
    i think blogcaralog is better....
  12. CelebrityIcePop
I got over 1000 twitter followers in under a week, and I get more hits from twitter to my blog, so for me twitter reigns.
    1. JoseSinclair
I've never used Twitter, but someone said I could get "500 blog followers in a week from Facebook"- and I only found about 3-4 people there..

I think I'm a social networking illiterate - I don't have 500 friends I can readily call on to make my stats look better, it's closer to FIVE who care enough to visit without just finding me online using search or referrals...

eMail me, HOW to use Twitter to my advantage, like getting 1000 more viewers - I've never even been there!!
      later !! - Jose

I think Blogcatalog is very different than Twitter. There is more than one reason to be on Blogcatalog. Not everything is about getting traffic. Getting traffic that takes a few minutes to read what you have to say is better.

I really haven't found twitter to be all that interesting or helpful...I think I must be doing it wrong
    1. Norski
I don't know that there's a 'right' or 'wrong' here. Twitter is more for people who want to exchange - or read - very short messages.
  15. vamsi056
    yes i agree
  16. MadameX
I think it's silly to compare them. It's a little like saying, "Apple pie is better than skiing" or "roller coasters are better than cars".
    1. Anok
But...roller coaster ARE better than cars!
    2. PetLvr
I second that .. roller coasters are indeed better than cars.

However, although peanut butter is at least .. 7 times better than toothpaste .. I find that when I use peanut butter on my toothbrush I go through a lot of toothbrushes.
    3. MadameX
Unless, of course, your purpose is to get from Iowa to New York...then a roller coaster is pretty useless.
    4. Anok
Pishaw! that just means we need to build the first ever interstate rollercoaster!

it's like the subway, only you have seat belts, and the vomit goes outside of the cars

Darn tootin'.Twitter is too showed off.

I get way more hits from Twitter than BC.
Twitter is easier to use in a way that those who are interested in your usual subject matter are going to see your messages and so that you are seeing only the subject matter that interests you.

If you use it right you don't need to see the messages about Bambi having just gotten her bikini wax in preparation for the evenings activities.

I find more of the Facebook updates I read relate more to the video linked to at the top of this thread than they do to Twitter.

I am quite agree that BlogCatalog is better. Many people are using Twitter, hard to follow the site that actually interested them.
I prefer BlogCatalog, although I am new to it.

But, Many people come to visit my blog to claim their FREE REPORT "HOW TO EARN US$ 10,000 PER MONTH" from Twitter.

I'm a confirmed BlogCataloger, and now a Twitterer too.

    I don't think it's a matter of 'better' - they're different.

BC allows long messages, and allows complex ideas to be exchanged. Key word is "allows" - but that's another topic. Also, BC allows bloggers to learn about each other through profiles which are more extensive/detailed than what I found in Twitter.

Twitter, on the other hand, has a 140 character limit which I find challenging - a good thing in this case. I'm learning to boil down statements. Good practice.

More to the point, I've met a few new people on Twitter, and find that it's a source (from time to time) of very up-to-date information. That takes a prudent choice of which accounts to follow, but Twitter functions allow fairly fast search and selection.

I'm certainly not going to abandon BC - but Twitter is an interesting and useful networking tool for me.

Hits? Not so many, yet - but that's not what I'm there for.

I think BC > Twitter. Other people may think differently, but I like BC more.
  22. zendersto
they are all the same , but when you got the large amount of twitter followers , you will see the difference between blogcatalog and twitter.
Follow me on Twitter please twitter.com/zendersto

I'm with Tiffany. It's like comparing toasters and bicycles. Better? It all depends on what you're trying to do. Personally I think both services provide great potential value. It's up to You to use them to suit your own needs

ya,to get traffic from bc is easy then twitter.because to get traffic from twitter u need a lot of followers.
