well, are you getting more apples or more oranges? I'm just interesting in where to get the most hits... that ought to be easy to see..
from my admittedly biased perspective, Twitter seems to be for teenage girls who go shopping to pacify their gratification needs, the same type that keep Britney #1 on all the search engines..
after all, her life and loves are more important than wars, worldwide depressions, rampant bankruptcies, piracy, or how to survive..
I'm lost in today's world of superficiality, I've sunk a lot deeper in my half century of turmoil..

I got over 1000 twitter followers in under a week, and I get more hits from twitter to my blog, so for me twitter reigns.
-
I've never used Twitter, but someone said I could get "500 blog followers in a week from Facebook"- and I only found about 3-4 people there..
I think I'm a social networking illiterate - I don't have 500 friends I can readily call on to make my stats look better, it's closer to FIVE who care enough to visit without just finding me online using search or referrals...
eMail me, HOW to use Twitter to my advantage, like getting 1000 more viewers - I've never even been there!!

I really haven't found twitter to be all that interesting or helpful...I think I must be doing it wrong

I think it's silly to compare them. It's a little like saying, "Apple pie is better than skiing" or "roller coasters are better than cars".

I get way more hits from Twitter than BC.
Twitter is easier to use in a way that those who are interested in your usual subject matter are going to see your messages and so that you are seeing only the subject matter that interests you.
If you use it right you don't need to see the messages about Bambi having just gotten her bikini wax in preparation for the evenings activities.
I find more of the Facebook updates I read relate more to the video linked to at the top of this thread than they do to Twitter. -
I am quite agree that BlogCatalog is better. Many people are using Twitter, hard to follow the site that actually interested them.
I prefer BlogCatalog, although I am new to it.
But, Many people come to visit my blog to claim their FREE REPORT "HOW TO EARN US$ 10,000 PER MONTH" from Twitter.

I'm a confirmed BlogCataloger, and now a Twitterer too.
I don't think it's a matter of 'better' - they're different.
BC allows long messages, and allows complex ideas to be exchanged. Key word is "allows" - but that's another topic. Also, BC allows bloggers to learn about each other through profiles which are more extensive/detailed than what I found in Twitter.
Twitter, on the other hand, has a 140 character limit which I find challenging - a good thing in this case. I'm learning to boil down statements. Good practice.
More to the point, I've met a few new people on Twitter, and find that it's a source (from time to time) of very up-to-date information. That takes a prudent choice of which accounts to follow, but Twitter functions allow fairly fast search and selection.
I'm certainly not going to abandon BC - but Twitter is an interesting and useful networking tool for me.
Hits? Not so many, yet - but that's not what I'm there for. -
they are all the same , but when you got the large amount of twitter followers , you will see the difference between blogcatalog and twitter.
