I was wondering if my blogs have too many blog labels. Is there an optimal number that I should work towards or is it best to have as many as possible?

Would too many hurt the pr of my blog?

Should each post have its own label?

How many is too many?

      Why so?

Well, only if it's just for one post.

I try to keep my blog labels simple and not over use them. The point of labels is to connect related posts together and the more labels you have the more complicated it can get. With to many labels may forget to use a label in a certain post that might fit.

I have a movie review blog and for each post I have a label for the rating I gave it, what decade the movie was made and the genre of the movie, usually there is more than 1 genre label.

Originally I had labels for each actor and director for the movie but this information can be easily searched using the search function on my blog because all that information is actually in the post. It got to be to cumbersome to keep up so I removed them.

Where did you get your search widget? I tried to install the one that blogger offered and it didn't work so I deleted it.

ehh... don't use the search gadget that blogger has...

just add a gadget for HTML and use this code, replacing [ and ] with < and >... apparently it won't let me post code here:

    [form id="searchThis" action="/search" style="display:inline;" method="get"]
    [input id="searchBox" style=" width:125px;" name="q" type="text"/]
    [input id="searchButton" value="Search" type="submit"/]
    [/form]

I have 5 main keywords I try to concentrate on, I use the Market Samauri tool to get a good list and concentrate using them....some wordpress modules add them automatically but you really do need to concentrate on a few so you can start getting power on the search engines with specific searches. Then you get more traffic if they are searched more.

So it's better to keep your blog labels tightly correlated rather than to vary your blog posts?
