I'm curious to know about your experiences in marketing your blogs.

I would like to hear what you have to say about these...

Digg, Stumble Upon, Entrecard, Technorati, etc.

What has been your highest day in traffic and where did it come from?

Have you experimented with buying ad space or e-mail ads?

What kind of traffic did you see?

Do you have repeat visitors (fans) and how did you generate them?

Have you looked in to Viral Marketing, or tried to get something like a post or a video to go Viral?

What other forms of marketing have you experimented in and have they been successful?

Thanks a bunch!

I've been working on a few mashups or widgets to go viral. Probably the easiest way to go viral is with a youtube video or a simple popfly.com mashup. I have gotten more hits from bc than any other social network and the second most from stumble.
On my website, I got more hits from stumble than anything else.

      Awesome!

Me 2 - The BC has been where I'm getting most my traffic.

But, it will soon be upstaged by Entrecard.

I've gotten some amazing traffic from that site.

      Now...the quality...I'm not sure.

It's probably better to get fewer views with better quality that keep comin back then to have a bunch of views of people that will never come to your site ever again.

I get zero traffic from Digg, Stumble Upon, Entrecard, Technorati, etc. I guess I'm not working those right, actually I'm not working them at all. No ad space, and am curious as to what viral marketing is. I haven't heard of it. A lot of people seem to get a lot of traffic from BC, I get little to none and it's not high quality traffic.

As far as my traffic, I've been seeing a steady increase and always seem to hit my goals and am very happy with my numbers. I work the other niche blogs a lot! Always leaving comments and participating in their community. I've got a lot of loyal readers. As far as traffic, most all comes from other niche blogs, direct traffic, search engines and funny enough my other two sites. I get a lot of traffic from a social directory called CafeMom as well.

      Very cool!

Viral Marketing is like YouTube. You send it out and it spreads, typically generating traffic to your site. There are a lot of different aspects of Viral marketing. Viral marketing can also be another word for Word Of Mouth marketing. I realize WOM marketing and Viral Marketing on the internet is dynamically different, but it’s the same idea.

Hotmail generated their success from Viral Marketing. They offered free e-mail accounts and with every e-mail that their customers sent, there was an ad at the bottom of their e-mail, advertising Hotmails services. So, as you can see, that generated exponential traffic and customers.

That's awesome that your traffic is generated through community participation!

I've only just started my blog and quite frankly, I'm clueless as to how to market it, and I also wonder if I want or need to. What is this Viral Marketing and BC of which you speak and do you have a link?

Thus far, I've registered my blog on Zimbio, Blog catalog and Poetry blog rankings.

It will depend on which platform you put more effort. Social sites like, digg, SU, BC and facebook are not very much effective because you have to push them every time you want a traffic spark. But you will get loyal readers and friends from the sites which are the real benefits.

The effective one is search traffic and it will take time to do hard work and show the results.

The best way for blog marketing is to create relationship with other bloggers who write the same content what you do. They will turn into regular readers and promote your site and help you in many ways.

I started my art blog mid december and immediately there after got entrecard, it has sent alot of loyal readers in, but thats when they were only a few 1000 blogs strong and there was a dropping rampage, I hooked about 10-15 readers that have been loyal from Entrecard.

Stumble upon sends a bit of traffic when I get a post stumbled and reviewed. Being in a niche, and not a techie type blog, my best day the majority of my traffic came through stumble upon.

I do fairly well for organic traffic -

    1st - Stumble Upon
    2nd - Organic
    3rd - Entrecard (now - since I dont drop like a maniac)
4th - BC cuz I just recently started getting involved

When one of my sketches got picked up by Mark Farners Website, I hit over 500 page views in a few hours too.. that rocked!

I don't know what happened, but apparently one of my pages was Stumbled a few days ago. I received probably 30-40 visits in about 10 minutes. Then nothing-

There are many ways to get viral marketing to work for you.

You could create a program application and submit it to software directories.

The easiest what to get viral marketing is to create ebooks and reports and give them away. Allow others to give them away also.
