So why did you decide to use the photo that appears on your Blog.... where did it come from and what does it mean, if anything? Perhaps it is important or is it just something that you want to portray? .. ??

Mine.... it's when I was about 4 years old !

Actually, my avatar has more significance now then when I chose it. I chose it because I needed one and was stumped. So I figured Walt Whitman's image would be as good as any. But since then I've come to see how much me and the old boy have in common.

It's strange how things can evolve and change.... what starts out as a quick idea can develop... I like your logic.

Mine is the spray I used (rarely, actually) when playing some online FPS games. It fits my name, which I also used while playing FPS online games, but its origin is much older and comes from a D&D character from the 80s.

Like the idea... thanks for sharing that with us..

The one in blog was taken on a beach and the avatar here was taken by a friend at a party, he sent it to me, though it was a much larger picture and included him originally.

My avatar is a picture of an art piece hanging on my wall. It looks funkkee:P

I love it!! Really cool! I would like to see the original ^_^

My avatar is well..me. My sister took this picture.
  6. Friday13
My avatar is me (shocking!) and my blog doesn't use photos as part of its design. Just a plain old header with the title on it.
  7. SaNn
my photos come from my camera
    1. faithcooper78
Me too.. I used my own photo.
  8. LGramlich
I really didn't have any decent pix of myself, so I went over by the patio door, held the camera up over my head & took the shot. I like the way it came out.
  9. LolitaV
i picked it because it's naughty and i like naughty stuff.

It's a self-portrait while I was in New York. If you look closely, you can see the Statue of Liberty in the background.

I'm not going to lie. It came from Kool-aid man's secret profile: brands.kraftfoods.com/koolaid/KoolSpace/

Don't ask me how I found this place out. I don't even know myself.

And, I highly suggest choosing "Rip it up" from the Kooltunes player to watch Kool-aid man going straight up gangsta initiation beating style.

I took mine. It won an award and I like it. So I shared it with every one. I take lots of photos and this one is one of my favorites.

I use Doink the Wrestling Clown from the 90's just because it looks absurd and is symbolic of the somewhat insane, over-the-top nature of my blog.
    1. amybyrd21
My step daughter would run for her life if she saw this avatar. She hates clowns. I have to hide all clown figurines when she comes over.

Mine is a graphic that I created from some artwork - and other things.

Mine was taken by my friend Jim at the top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.

Mine is about 7 years old. My mom wanted a picture of me so I dressed myself and daughter up like hula girls. I like being silly!

      Cute... many thanks

I would have told my story if I was not side tracked by LolitaV - whom I also reported.

it is a shame, Lolitav, that you did not have enough sense NOT to put that picture up. I do not have to sell why it's inappropriate.

Mine is a cute doll at the hotel in Thailand that I really wanted to bring home so I just took a picture of it and decided to use it as my avatar.

A park in Denver Colorado in the summer. Chillin out in the grass. My wife snapped the picture. The Avi is a cropped and tilted version.

I was at a cafe in Ensenada, Mexico about four years ago. My wive snapped my photo and that's pretty much it.

it's my kitten, who's the whole focus of my blog. plus he's cute, so maybe people will be like, "aww KITTY" and run to my blog, hahaha. either way, it's a picture i like to see when i log on.

Well.. it was trial and error.. I had wanted a dusty cracked earth theme to represent Africa, but a reader said it made text hard to read.. so I changed to a photo of an ancient piece of parchment, and that seemed to look better.

I held a logo contest amongst my readers. I love the result.

My head is spinning! I'm trying to figure out which one are you asking about... blog photo or profile photo?!
    1. jonnyontheball
The photo that you have shown above...
  25. seername
Most of it came from my digital camera. Capture it myself.

My blog photo is one I took last year in my garden. It's one of my favorites.

There is also a picture of me when my oldest child was little. He had such fuzzy hair. I enjoy remembering that time, so I use the photo.

My avatar here is my younger son's monkey puppet. It brings a smile to my face when I see it, and who doesn't want to smile? So, I use it.
  27. becominglast
A friend actually made mine because I had a lame generic avatar before. I'm not artsy enough to make a cool picture or anything. My one talent is throwing a dodgeball really hard, but seriously, who can use that on a blog? :-)
  28. jazzy2103
I found an oraneg with a smile on it. It was cute so that is why I chose it.
    1. jonnyontheball
      .. and so it is..
  29. yoonsee
All the photos in my blog were taken by me unless it's written and given credit to the author of the pictures.
I have a few avartar pictures. I have chosen the ones that I like most and they are representing my mood, characters.....
    1. jonnyontheball
      Very artistic... like it..

I used to travel to Manhattan regularly for work and my daughter hated it. This is a picture of us together just before I left for the airport--a tradition we started so we'd both have a recent picture of us together to keep close at hand while I was away.

Since I don't seem to end up in front of the camera that often I decided to use this picture - kind of like it

I'm a strong supporter of both the confederate flag and what it stands for, and believe it should be reinstated over the state capitol in Georgia.

What the confederate flag stands for to 90% of the people who fly it is tradition and history. For me it also stands for standing up for the weak at the expense of the mighty and speaking truth even when no one wants to hear it.

Some people will claim that, because to some people it is the symbol of something else, it should not be flown, but I would quickly point out that when you take a symbol that symbolizes something as real and important as the history and culture of the American South and criminalize it, you empower the criminals, and you do so because the flag can no longer have better meaning attached to it in civilized company. It might eventually disappear, but only after creating more terror, more violence, and more crime then it would've if kept in civilized company for decades before it dissipated. By allowing it to be used more properly, you avoid making the enemy noble by your own stupidity or unkempt temper.

Like a person with strong a opinion.... well done!

My picture is of me. I took it when I was on the SI Ferry headed to class. I chose it because it reflects what my blog is about. My everyday life. I think its rather appropriate.

mine is my wedding picture from August of this year. very fun day!
    1. OnlineBlogger
I know it's OT but congrats
  35. savvy2
I haven't had a photo taken in a zillion years, so I cropped off a little section of one of my photographic collages.

It's totally without meaning. Just like the looks of it.
    1. jonnyontheball
Thanks for the info... I like it very much..

My avatar is me "feeding" a moose in Alaska. it's a play on what one of my best friends from college (one in Alaska, the other in NYC) did in NYC at the Museum of Natural History. We started posing in front of the exhibits, taking pictures in night mode - so it looked like you were right next to the animals/in the landscape. We are cheesey adults, what can I say?
  37. BeamingBalance
My blog header is someting I designed myself to match a logo I created for the life balance workhops I offer.

My avatar photo was taken of me by my nine-year old daughter when she was playing around with my camera one day. (But it ended up being a good shot!)
    1. Norski
      Your daughter did well.
    2. Norski
Took a look at your blog. Today's entry ( www.blogcatalog.com/blog/the-balance-beam ) took me back a few years: "Warning: This post may not be suitable for those who have never taken care of small children and/or those with a strong sensory gag reflex...."

About the logo: Nice! Good 'theme' header for that blog.
  38. Norski
Depends on the blog. The eye I use some places is mine, from a photo I took of myself for that purpose.

I've used 3D graphics for one (Apathetic Lemming of the North) and 2D digital artwork for others. One of my back-burner projects is to develop distinctive graphics for each of my blogs. (Don't hold your breath waiting for them - that could take a while.)
  39. roadgurl5
My blog header is my own photo of leaves I took last autumn, and my avatar is 1/4 of me, taken at Walnut Canyon National Park in Arizona.
  40. MissSuzie
My blog header came from a card my kids gave me and my avatar is a picture of me (lithographed).
    1. Norski
Digital process or traditional for the 'lithograph?' Just curious.
    2. MissSuzie
      Digital.
    3. jonnyontheball
Good use of black and white... different and good

Mine is a picture of a goats eye I took at the Orange County Fair this year. If you look hard, you can see me in the reflection
  42. brianomaracroft
My wife took it of me on our wedding day...it's a bit dated now.
  43. pinkmonkeychatter
I took it myself. In my basement with a self timer. And yes, I have a 1970's tikki bar in my basement.
  44. ArsenicCookies
I don't have a blog picture, just a gallery of work. My avatar is an image from one of my photoshoots
