Blog Project Traffic Generation Tips

I have always been a fan of Darren Rowse’s group writing projects (I was very lucky to be among the winners of the last edition, in fact). The only problem I have ever encountered there is that some of the participants are exclusively interested in getting a backlink from Problogger. They do not interact with the other people or link to posts from other blogs.

In order to solve this problem I will try to create a monthly Blog Project here at Daily Blog Tips with two simple rules:

1. Send me your tip about the current topic (the first one will be “Traffic Generation Tips”). You can use the contact form or post a comment below.

2. After I publish the list of participants and their tips you write a post with a link to everyone that participated in the project.

The aim of this project is to share useful tips, spread the link love and give everyone the possibility to discover new blogs. If 10 people participate you will receive 10 tips, link to 10 people and get 10 backlinks in exchange (sounds good, right?).

As I mentioned before the first topic is “Traffic Generation Tips”, so share what has worked to increase your traffic over the past. You can send your tips until

Using Blog Promotion

Do you belong to any blog networks? Do you actively participate in them? After some experimentation I believe that participating in the right network can go a long way to promoting your blog and establishing a reader base.

I tried out 3 different services: Yahoo's MyBlogLog, Google's Friend Connect and BlogCatalog. I actually was running all 3 widgets associated with these services, on my blog, all at one time. I had them all up for about two weeks. And as I visited blogs around the web, and I visit many, between three and four hundered a day. I would join various communities and add various blogs/bloggers to the friends I was following on each service. But not Blog Catalog, there is no easy add button on their widget, so they got left hanging. Well, I was surprised to find such an amazing difference between the results. Hopefully what I discovered will help you too.

Commenting on other blogs for Targeted traffic.

Most of all the bloggers are aware that commenting on other blogs will give you a lots of targeted traffic and sometimes a good number of quality backlinks (Do-follow). A survey conducted by a Philippines Marketing Blog proved that 2% of the total readers of a blog are only interested in respond using tweeting, digging etc. and only half of them will comment their views & opinions. Thus getting comments to your blog isn’t it difficult?

But, this article is not dealing with how to increase your blog comments, but a guide to make traffic and backlinks by commenting on other blogs.....

Using Twitter.

Twitter users can generate a lot of visibility very quickly, depending on what strategy is used. There is also a lot of information about on how to make it work.

One strategy is to set your Twitter account up before you even begin your blog, and only start your blog when you reach a set number of followers. Then start linking your twitter comments to your blog, or update your profile to include your blog URL, or both.

You don't have to do it this way. You can set up a Twitter account regardless of how established your blog might be, and still drive additional traffic your way.

SU is also great way to get visitors.Facebooks also helps.Leave your post urls in respective facebook groups it works.
