I've been thinking about this for a long time... There are certain tried and tested practises that work like a charm promoting a blog - and are so much fun, that you do them anyway, even if you weren't promoting a blog. These include:

- Your avatar with everything you do.
- Your avatar linking to your profile with your web links on it.
- Forums
- Hot or not picture rating (with that link!)
- Chats (with avatars and links)
- Guest posts on the said site

Now, I could start a site like this advertising it as a blogging promotion tool, but that would make it just another blogcatalog, and this works nicely as what it is. What I would like to do, is create a site that will attract not only bloggers, but people who are primarily readers. Also, I wouldn't want to limit it to a certain use...

A viral community needs a viral start though, so I am not even attempting to do that alone. (I've started a few communities and know that to start, they need something to bounce on) so I'm asking if anyone would be interested to try it with me.

Any ideas would be welcome as well.
