9 foot tsunami reported in Indonesian coast town.
Tremors from a (7.9?) quake in the area.
For BlogCatalogers in that area: When you've got a moment, let us know how your are, please.

Uhm... Okay here. Didn't feel a thing.
It's 21:40 PM now in my city, and everyone's ready to bed..
But I am at Jakarta, Java island..
Probably it happened in Sumatra island area since it's the nearest one to Singapore.
Thanks for the quick notice, Mr. Norski..
Hope everyone else is okay there. -
News says the quake was 8.2 now.
I understood that Padang had a tsunami 9 feet tall (a little under 3 meters).
I see that it's about half-past 10 at night in that area right now.
BlogCatalogers in that area may be sensibly asleep by now.
However, if you're awake, and have a working Internet connection, and have time:
How are you doing? -
I believe the quake happened near the south end of ("Sumatra Island"?) - that large island toward the west end of Indonesia.
Reports now are that 7 people are dead from the quake. That number is likely to rise.
A reasonable question is "so what?" This isn't related to blogging.
True, but the impression I get is that quite a few BlogCatalogers live around the Indian Ocean. I've gotten settled in here, and think of BlogCatalogers as neighbors. Go figure. -

Depends on what "temporarily" means to you.
Alas! The name of the documentary is lost to me, but there was a very good illustration of seismic activity in it: a world map, animated with red dots appearing where - and when - each took place. The map animation covered the centuries in which there have been decent records, so it covered a fair span of time.
I was impressed by the ebb and flow of quakes. There would be clusters of flashes here, there, somewhere else, like paparazzi spotting starlets.
Then, there was a period (can't remember when, but it seemed to be a while back) when there were more-or-less synchronized flashes, all over the world.
Somehow, I don't think we have all the answers quite yet, about how this world works.

Not planning to blog about it, but I've been following the news closely. I'm an earthquake junkie. (Being a survivor of a couple big ones will do that to ya.)
Here's the best place to go to follow where the quakes are happening around the world:
earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php
And if you're interested in tsunami alerts:
www.prh.noaa.gov/ptwc/
^ Somewhere on both of those sites there's a link to sign up for automated email alerts about quakes/tsunami advisories if you are interested.
Heck, might as well add this one, too, while I'm at it:
tux.wr.usgs.gov/
IMHO, earthquakes -- especially big ones -- are the most traumatic of natural disasters, mainly because there's no warning, nowhere to hide, and not too much you can do ahead of time to prepare. -
still in heaven and be here longer...
