BlogCatalog is designed to be an exclusive social network for bloggers.
Our vision is to be the glue that connects bloggers accross the blogosphere.
We're just getting started, and we have lots more to show you in the weeks and months ahead. The vision can be achieved only if you join in the cause - open communication with our users (and developers) is at the top of our list.
We love and embrace new ideas and change. So please share with us when we screw up, and tell us when we rock the house. Give us your feedback and your ideas, and in return we'll listen, and we'll deliver.

I got feedback. How about splitting apart public comments and private comments. Personally I had to stop and think a bit when I saw the first comment on my profile. Also I've seen profiles where people are obviously answering some private messages. The messages I saw didn't do any harm, I just smiled a bit and carried on but it might cause some confusion, especially for newer members.

Would be great to get a considered comment from you over there!-
Thanks for the great feedback rob, its a really great article and we love it.
I just wanted to offer a few very quick clarifications about the system we have created.
- Some HTML is allowed. check out this awesome list.
- Whenever you reply to or start a topic, that topic will get added to your favorties automatically. These Favorite posts are what we use to populate the lists on the sidebar of your user profile, and is also a good way to track the threads you're most interested in.

I couldnt see any list in your post there.
I guess these things are a little organic really - the great thing for you guys is you are in a position whereby you can add bits on and play with the code until you get it 'just' right.
I'm going to certainly watch this thing and see how it develops, thats for sure! -
P.s would have loved to have replied directly to your response to me too. Threaded multi layered comments here we come perhaps?

with the current system, the appropriate way to reply to my comment would have been by replying to you own original comment. it's very much similar to the comment system used at digg.com.
