I lost month's of hard work and never got it back. Have you ever had any such horrible experiences?

I have blogger account and 3 blogs created.
www.gracearreza.com
www.seductive-grace.com and
silkroad.seductive-grace.com
All these blog's domain were customized to my own domain.
Never had problem with blogger.
-
You were promoting a blog and logger shut down your account? what was the blog about that you promoted>?
-
Yes heaps of problems, I sort of hate it, ...but wow, I'm not sily ...can't you really play around with the search engines via Blogger?
I'm not moving from there...I have wordpress blogs as well, but the Google Blogger gives you a lot of ability to tweak it for the Google Search engine
And..I'm sure you don't look like your pic -
While it will brand me as a hopeless techno-dweeb, I have to say that I Love Blogger. I have played a bit with using Word Press and found the learning curve steep and unpleasant. My interest is in writing about books and communicating with other book lovers. I have no interest in learning about blog creation/management software for it's own sake. Blogger enables me to publish a reasonably professional and useful blog and spend my time reading books and writing about them rather than banging my head against the screen learning new software.

I've been using Blogger almost two years now. The current upgrade makes using the site much easier than when I started. The version I started with forced me to learn code to have a list of links.
As for referrals, I have a number of them. I haven't had any problems with being shut out from my account.
The other types of blog generating sites I looked at were not as easy to set up - some I still haven't quite figured out how everything works. -
There seems to be obvious limitations of what you can do with Blogger. It sure is a much easier interface to use than wordpress or any of the self hosted blog platforms. Anyway, i am pretty happy with wordpress and with the various plugins coming out, it is way better than blogger. Anyway, that is my opinion!
-
No probs here with Blogger (yet). I think its biggest appeal (from a seo point of view) is its close ties with Google search.
I came across a really interesting blog the other day and felt compelled to leave a comment , however it was on Wordpress and it required me to login / create a account. As I don't have one and I can't be reasonably asked to remember another set of login details, I didn't leave a comment which is a shame. -
not yet...I haven't encountered anything fishy about blogger...had a few silly problems earlier, but I got over it and now I'm enjoying..but yes one thing I disapprove of is, it doesn't support ASP or JSP either
.....

i haven't had any problems with blogger yet, and i've been using it since 2004.
@seenijg, perhaps your blog was flagged by some reader(s)? i don't know about wordpress but blogger has an option for flagging a blog...for pornography, racism, etc etc...
i do recall blogger shutting down a certain blog that featured nude pics...that was after blogger was bought by Google...i think Google wanted a wholesome image...that was a year or two ago, not sure about the policies now... -
As big a mouth as I have on blogs, and all the links I have with blogspot, I have never had my account jeopardized once by any company or blog with whom I posted their affiliate links to.
What kind of eBook was it? was it legal?
just curious.
I do like Wordpress, but I'm also thinking about getting my own domain hosted by Wordpress later this month. -
using wordpress was fairly easy for me. just got it setup on my hosting domain and installed it seamlessly. There is a fair bit of nitty gritty that you can work with wordpress which helps your overall ranking i believe,(or so i ahve been told!) Anyway, i wasnt promoting anything in violation of blogger's TOS. I was promoting a digital product to make money online and was sending my readers to a few other blogs that had some good testimonials.
Also, if any of you would like a wordpress account setup for free, let me know, i will be glad to help.

Just as seenij said Wordpress rocks.... Blogger duh....
Been using wordpress for my new blog and customization is a breeze.
At blogger you to follow a static kind of template which limits you're creativity.....
Anyway I've stopped using blogger about a month ago and never regretted it.
For the question by Dan33185
regarding wordpress doesn't allow to embed youtube videos
check out my blog ==> www.MyBoxPro.com
It's on wordpress and youtube is embedded without any hassle. -
This is the first time I heard that blogger will shut your blog down. WHere I have promote 5 blog over there but never have this problem so far even I have stop blogging for 6 month after I have start with my own blog with www.BlogYourOwnBusiness.com with wordpress that I found it have much more plugin for me to play around.
-
I got now problem with my blogspot at all. Just recently i found that when i open up my page using IE there is an error pop up. Any one can help me?
davedeli.blogspot.com -
This is interesting, it started out as an anti blogspot post but it made me realize that many people consider Wordpress hard to use, short on features and hard to learn, which is what I also found out about wordpress. I thought it was just me.
-
Wordpress is quite easy to use actually. Just because it is more flexible with loads of options, i guess people spend unnecessary brain power trying to figure all of em out. If u wud use ur WP account just like ur blogger acct, there really shudnt be much trouble. Then as time goes, perhaps u can figure out the other features available.
Btw, i am happy to help to set up anyone's WP blog, if u like. -

I whole heartedly disagree. Wordpress is easy and versatile. The plugin libraries alone put Blogger to shame. If you're not familiar with code then Blogger is more of a platform for you. As far as loosing content I've never had a problem with this as I back my Sit & DB up on a regular basis.
I've been blogging for close to 6 years now and Wordpress is the best platform I've used in that time. I started with a blogger site, but when hosted at blogspot there just isn't as much hands on. Wordpress is just a better fit for me.

Wow, I had experiences with Blogger whne I first
came into the "Cyber" World a couple years ago.
They shut off my Adsense "privilages"
So What......
But I have found the power and ease of using Word Press,
thank ro the help of two very good friends.
Mike Peatzold (the Old Bald Guy) has a very clear and
concise Tutorial membership site that really helped me.

And Pete Balasch has helped skyrocket my SEO postions

i just wonder what did you writting on blogspot?as my knowledge, there are just only three reasons will cause your blog been shut off.
1)Modify blogger logo with disgusting design and post it on your blog
2)blame blogspot in your post
3)create multiple blogs and link to each other.
even with the porn blog, they still survive till now and not deleted by blogspot,so can you tell us what exactly you were writting for?-
1) i don;t have time for that
2) I will do that now but not when i was using blogspot itself, duh!
3) nope, surely not mine, i was only giving links to other people's blogs which had reviews on a digital product i was trying to sell.
"so can you tell us what exactly you were writting for?" - If you would be so kind to read what is on top, i don't have to waste redundant text again and again?

I had a heck of a time switching from "classic" to "beta", but eventually it sorted itself out and I haven't had any problems since.
pastexpiry.blogspot.com/ -
No... but if I do I'll have to kill them :-)
I tried to switch to wordpress but it was a pain in the butt. I have a lot of posts to carry over. I'm writing a book.-
sorry to hear that. I had a real easy time migrating over to wordpress. PErhaps the theme and the design portion would be difficult. However, i would be really worried about the content and that is really easy to migrate using the inbuilt migration tools given with wordpress. If you need any help, pls ask me,

I'm a newbie, with only a few months experience blogging.
However, I've also been maintaining websites for a little over ten years, so I've got a little online experience.
Google's BlogSpot isn't perfect: but neither is anything else I've encountered in this world.
BlogSpot is free, easy to use, and flexible (providing you know HTML and CSS). So far, no problem.
BlogSpot does have a TOS that is a trifle limiting, but so far I haven't had a problem with it: A little surprising, considering that one of my blogs is "Another War-on-Terror Blog."
Anyway: sorry to hear that you've had some sort of problem with them. -
-
-
for a start, wordpress can;
1)autoping(update) your posts to most search engines and blog directories
2)allow you to have adspace from yahoo, msn and other SEs
3)change your font, CSS, theme and anything else visual limited only by your imagination
4) has many free, open source widgets, themes, plugins to make your site more dynamic and engaging.
I am sure i can go on, but you get the idea
-
1) pingomatic.com you can pick what to ping.
2) and Blogger doesn't?
3) So does Blogger.
4) Blogger has flexable themes and such, too, and you can put widgets from other sites on the blog as you like.
-
-
I think blogger can auto ping too if you know how to do it and you can change font, CSS themes etc.. so they are no different to me thats why i get more traffic through people doing searches on google search
-
Sorry to hear you lost all your hard work. I keep a copy of all my blogs just in case something like this happens.
I have 6 blogs with Blogger and I haven't had any problems with any of them.
I have used other bloggers articles on my blog BUT with permission, as long as I put a link back to the blog I got it from there was no problem.
I usually put a note at the bottom of the article like "Used by permission from (name) at (link)" -
Why flame when obviously you've made the choice that seemed best for you? Not everyone is McLuhanistic and have our own reasons as to why we blog.
While I'm at it: Shell stations suck. Nationwide Insurance sucks. McDonald's sucks. Sean Penn sucks. There's a load off my chest. -
Wordpress is too hard to use ..I have two blogs there and I lean to the Blogspot and Typepad more often...Yes I pay for TypePad but is one of the best. If Wordpress would make their insertions a little easier they would be the top spot..for me.
-
Lots of comments here, but it seems un finished lol
I would like a link to that site the Discussion starter promoted so I don't promote a link like it hahha -
I am a complete and total techie idiot and I love Typepad. I'm ducking so that all the rotten apples everyone is throwing at me don't damage my brain. Typepad is easy enough for the rank beginner to use, plus they keep coming up with new and great features like pages. Yes, it costs money, but not much. And I don't have to worry about having my blog yanked by the Gods of Google.
-
I've been using blogger since I started blogging and I love it. The problem with wordpress is you have to get hosting if you want your own domain. Blogger hosts my blog and images for free and is more flexible then most people give it credit for. I also never have to worry about the server going down or bandwidth charges
-
crystalcash, wordpress does offer its own hosted blogs as well. There are also a thousand other such hosted blog platforms out there but i admit that blogger has one of the most user friendly and idiot proof platforms.
Also, if you really want to take your blog to the next level, doing banner advertisements, scripts, forums and so on, hosted method is the way to go
www.blogmiracle.com

-
Got to agree with seenij .... hosted wordpress is the way to go.
It's puts you in the next level in terms of customizing which i found quite limited in Blogger.
No offence but I started out with blogger too ... about 3 months back ....
In terms of themes.....wordpress is rich galore and customizable ... a lot of plugins and you really feel that you are the admin of your own site.... without fear of getting banned ... well i think some might experienced it using Blogger.

haha, sure wasn't anything secretive. It was stephen pierce's optimindzation program i was trying to sell. i am not very proud of selling it cuz it isn't really a good product but sure made money outta it..

I read online a lot about hacked accounts. Nobody can hack any account as long as you use random letters, numbers and "$,&'s" in your passwords. It would take years and years to even have a shot at a program guessing it.
When I got the internet in 1996, the first thing I read was password security. I found out most people use actual words for passwords. Those are the people who got hacked all the time. -
If you use for example a 9 character password from a pool of 40 letter, numbers, and symbols, you get over 262,144,000,000,000
combinations. That won't be guessed in this lifetime. I think that is 262 trillion.-
i have no idea what you are rambling about here. I was stating that my blog account was removed by google, not hacked! Dude, get some rest?

Try www.squarespace.com I built one for my wife it is very innovative.

I have been using blogs since some months. I think blogspot is better because i have no problems yet. I also tried word press but didnt find it so good as blogspot.
Anyway, sorry to hear about yours blog. -
-
I've been using it since December 2005, and I'm also using a custom made template(three column). I haven't had any problems and my blog is perfectly fine. A lot of my friends use wordpress, But I have no plans to shift to wordpress.
Blogger is getting better and better each(atleast twice) day!
joel-robinson.blogspot.com -
both blogger & worldpress are nice and good
but they have their own specialities for your blog...
blogger is easy to manipulate and instant posting is also easy (best for begginers and nice for personal blog)
then worldpress is also like for blogger but for html & css gurus are here...and the layout is very simple and eye catching (good for business & ads)
so i mostly like blogger ^_^
athan054.blogspot.com-
athan,,i guess you are right, there are plus-es and minus-es with each of these tools out there that just will never be able to pick out a clear winner.
Just that my bad experience gives my wordpress experience a score higher for the moment.
anyway, i will live on,

After all that has been said and after all the good/bad things said about WP and Blogspot, I still love BLOGSPOT! In fact, I'm planning to get my own domain and hosting but I will keep my blogspot blog and just forward it to my new domain!
-
that is a cool idea, how would you do that? I mean forwarding to a new domain?
Also, how can you export the theme and files off your blogger account to your new domain? I only know how to forward your domain to your blogger account, this is the reverse.
www.blogmiracle.com -
Seenijg, To forward blogspot to a new domain:
Go to Settings > Publishing > Custom Domain > Switch to advanced settings > Enter Your new domain name > Save Settings
You don;t have to export anything. Your blogspot blog will remain as it is but when people go to it, it will appear as a new domain name on the address bar.
Then your done.

-
i think wordpress is a good one too. i will not move away, i will just have another blog. that's it.
myconsolingasylum.blogspot.com -
-
CallCenterVet , that is pretty cool. So, i should also go to my domain control panel and have it forwarded to the blogspot address. Then only it will work 2 ways, correct?

All of you crazy people out there... I have been trying to give away blogs on my site for a while now. mouseclone.com.. hurry the dad line is 10-31-07 11:59 pm. It will be wordpress and you will get an FTP login.

Both WordPress.com and Blogger are great! Enough already.
But .. uhm.. Wordpress.org is THE BEST. Mwahahahahah peace love you kisses
Anyways, WordPress.org-and-.com has this Support Forums where bloggers themselves help each other out, .org has the Codex, Lorelle, even Matt and everyone at Akismet keeps you updated.
It's the personal touch thingie, I guess.
-
Voting with both hands (& feet ;-)) in favor of WordPress & WordPress.com , we are after all WP bloggers ,another ... big "community/family" over there , with lots of great people ready to provide help and support.
Also as many fellow bloggers pointed out WordPress is one of the best blogging platforms currently available. -
found a great chart here that gives you all e facts that you need to know about the various blogging tools out there. PRetty neat and a good touchpoint

yeah it happened to me too. lost my traffic and trust as the trust that i had build lost in a second and thanks to blogger i'm trying to getting up again on my feet. tons of my article was put in vain as i had been replaced by a p.o.r.n site to my url.....
But i'm not gonna give up that easily as till today i'm blogging in Fame... -
No problems with mine

Self hosted wordpress installation seemed to be an obvious choice to me... A little more work, but freedom to do what you want and design it how you like. I am really enjoying our new blog at www.allbusinessauctions.com/blog. The Premium News Theme by: Adii is great and he is very helpful with installation and customization questions. We have a few tweaks to go before we are done, but so far it is a way better method of blogging than either my blogger or wordpress.com previous trials...
-
I have two blogs at Blogger. One thing I noticed is that most Blogger sites are slow to load. I usually blog hop from time to time dropping Entrecard but whenever I got into a blogger site, it takes some time before it appears. By the way, Im always mobile so Im using a mobile internet connection. But other sites still load faster.
-
i have my blog at blogger !
bloggersmagazine.blogspot.com
blogger irritates me ! but its not that bad ! -
My blogger blog is just sitting there... I plan on moving it to Wordpress in the future... Too busy working on the other two Wordpress blogs I do have. One Free and One self hosted...
The free wordpress blog does have advantages for SEO it seems, everything I post gets indexed almost immediately... It loads fast and seems to be more friendly to readers because it is not loaded up with adsence gunk. I use that installation to feed traffic to my self hosted blog which is monetized.
No one said you had to pick one and stick with it..
Try all of the platforms and use what works for you, but if you want a monetized blog with the ultimate in custom options - Wordpress.Org is the way to go... Some hosts make installation a simple click and go (NOT GODADDY)... -
Wordpress was working fine, when all of a sudden last night, pictures and images are not displayed. My bugger. Perhaps I should switch hosting with Blogger? Unfortunately I am not a techie person - need some help, because I love WordPress. Mine is a WordPress MU - bloggista.com
