Wordpress is easier to use in implementing SEO techniques such as trackbacking.

Yawn.... tired old argument. Each have their pros and cons.

Blogger..if u wish to monetize and wordpress if blogging is a hobby !

I agree with that. If you like wordpress and you want to monetize you could host your own wordpress, but then you need to pay for domain and hosting. However, Wordpress does have much nicer templates than blogger. I started on blogger, tried wordpress, hated the GUI, so I ended up with typepad.

Wordpress is better IF you have your own domain.

It depends what you're trying to do. I like my new WordPress.com blog, but I am frustrated by the limitations on the kinds of widgets I can use, as well as limitations on Amazon affiliate links. (They allow one.) I also don't like how I cannot redirect their RSS feed. But I prefer their commenting system, and I like their look. I also like being able to have additional pages besides my blog pages. On the other hand, you pay for CSS customization.

So I guess I'm agreeing with Abhatnagar here, but only if you arent' heavily into widgets.

[edit] For the record, I've got three blogs on Blogger and one on Wordpress. My Wordpress experience amounts to about a week, and my Blogger experience some six months. [/edit]

[edit] Darn. Now I see I didn't answer your question. What do you mean, "better for SEO"? Why would there be a difference? Well, the fact that you cannot install GoogleAnalytics on WorldPress.com might be relevant. [/edit]

I would prefer Blogger over Wordpress. The wordpress controlpanel/dashboard is not compatible with many browsers......

the wordpress control panel is compatible with firefox,ie,safari, opera, and netscape....what browsers isn't it compatible with?

    I love Wordpress!

it's best to get your own hosting and use wordpress

Sorry guys, I have to say this, but IMHO the WP control panel is among the least user-friendly GUIs I have seen in my quest for finding the ultimate blogging platform. Even the blogger dashboard looks and feels better. I love my typepad, and yes, it's a paid service, but you get what you pay for, and that (typepad) is what I want to get.

    my take...

blogger: a good start for newbie bloggers
wordpress (shared): limited widgets, a bit hard to setup/tweak if you're a newbie
wordpress (hosted): the favorite choice, very versatile, customizable, so many plugins and themes to choose from

I started blogging using blogger then moved to my own domain+free hosting using wordpress

I had the same 'progression' (Blogger, WP on site, WP on my own domain). I love its functionality and I'm learning more about it every day.

As for SEO, that's an area I'm still trying to get a handle on.
