I love to leave a comment on every blog I visit, I want to let you know , that yes I did visit, yes I did read, and here is what i thought.
The comment and reviews are the pulse presence of the blog. It lets me know what I must do to make my blog better, what you like, and what direction I need to take next. And damn it, I just love the comments.

Thank goodness and I love your topic. It's a shame that not too many people who come here go to other people's blogs and don't read the topics, much less comment on them.
I noticed that if someone creates a topic here, especially a shameless blog promo, people will read the little bit of info in the opening post, think they know what the topic is about without going to that person's blog and reading about it, and then comment on here.
Me? I go to the person's blog and I take the time to read what they wrote and I comment on their blog and I come back here and leave a comment.
Because let's face it, one of the reasons why most of us are here is to get people onto our blogs, read our stuff and comment on them. Is it really that hard?-

That is the forum rule, isn't it? That the post here must lend itself to discussion on the board regardless of whether or not people choose to click through to the blog? -
Well, MadameX, that maybe the forum (which I stated should be followed) but the main point of people joining BlogCatalog is to have people come to their blog, read their stuff and comment on it.
Sadly, that doesn't happen on here. I saw a shameless blog topic where the girl had at least 20 comments on there and none on her blog. I bet she would have enjoyed at least half of those comments on her blog. I bet should would have enjoyed the 20 people who commented actually went to her blog to read her topic.

Same here. I try to leave a comment or shout on every blog I visit. Typically, I do anywhere from 5 to 10 a day.

The spam here is incredible lately that is for sure. I have noticed it on a couple other boards I frequent as well. Boards not given to spam. It's the nature of the beast I'm afriad.
I never click to links on blog promotions here. I don't have the time. I don't think most people do.
The whole I comment at every blog I visit is nice for you but hardly practical for most of us, people can't work, live, go to school and comment on every blog.-
With all due respect, it's people like you who are the problem.
Bloggers join Blogcatalog with the hope of driving more traffic to their blogs and have comments on there. What's the point of joining a blogging network if you aren't going to at least check out a few blogs?
And you'll be surprised that if you have the time to read a few shameless blog promotions, that you have the time to actually read what the person wrote on his/her own blog and type nearly the same words on there as you do on his/her own shameless blog promotion on here. -
We have to disagree on this. I am hardly the problem, having been here way before this place even had forums, I am pretty much doing the same thing the majority of people listed in blog catalog do -avid wasting time on spam. I know it's hard to take but most of what I see here is spam.
I find some good blogs through the comments people make on the forums. When time is short it's usually a better gauge as to whether I want to read someone than a shameless link promotion would be.
Anyway we are not all here for the same thing, some people are here to browse and are fascinated by forum activity, others are here to promote a blog. I am most often of the first type. -
Well, what's spam? The people trying to sell you stuff? I agree.
But how about the guy or woman who just wrote something new on his or her blog and want to share it with everyone? That's where the Shameless Blog Promotion comes in.
I'm not saying we should read everything that everyone posts. What I'm saying is, is that if someone is just going to read the brief summary of what the blog is supposed to be and comment on the post based on that, why don't they just take a little extra time to actually read the entire blog (which most of them are short anyway) so they know what they are talking about when they comment, hopefully on the blog and on here?
I'm always so surprised when someone will leave comments here, arguing with the blogger about his/her views point, while most of the time the person is completely wrong and if he or she actually read the blog, he or she would see what the blogger is actually saying.

I thought the concept of community was getting to know and share. To me that means taking the extra few minutes to visit the poster's blog. If it's something I am interested in, or can contribute to, I'll comment.
Sorry, Bob. I did visit, but I had nothing to contribute. It's not my kind of humor. But I'm sure it's entertaining to many others. -
Petchatter, lol, I went and checked out your blog, and thankyou for checking out mine, my only problem was that going back I found no trace of you ever being on my blog site, Maybe my computer is faulty, sorry.
