I don't think i have to explain to you all that this blogging stuff can be hard.
I've made it a personal goal to post at least once a day on my BlogCatalog blog for 30 days straight. So far, so good. I am on day 12 of 30. I haven't blogged this much since 1999.
The question is, what topics concerning BlogCatalog would you guys want to know more about?
Are there any stats you are curious about? any photos that you would like to see? any questions for us admins you'd like me to get answered? any lists you'd like to see compiled? I am open to all and any suggestions for posts you would like to see on my BC blog. So please let them fly below!
If you haven't already seen it, you can check out my blog, The Tiger Beat, at:

Can you get me all the stats on timethief?
No No No - just kidding...
I am still kind of lost as how the "rankings" really work here... -
@theggodknife
Because I'm a deadly serious and somewhat competitive person, who always wants to know how everything works in graphic detail, part of me is interested in hearing about how the Popular Blogs listed on the Home page are determined and, I'm also interested in how rankings are determined. However, I do understand that if we have all the information about the algorithm used that what will happen is that people will game the system.
So having got that out of my system, I would like to suggest that you blog about the people side of Blog Catalog. Surely you must find some of our behaviors to be humorous, perplexing, weird or even wonderful. Surely you must also have head banging moments when the technology coughs, sputters or whatever - moments that can be recounted in a humorous way.
You're half way through the month Tiger - you can do this.

We want funny stories about YOU guys and gals
Heh, but I'm with TT, finding out how to best use BC, rankings, and vying for the featured blog position would be interesting as well. -
@ekim and anok
Okay kiddies. Knock it off with the name calling pul-lease. If you crank me up you'll be sorry because I have no brakes! Moreover, I've had years of experience when it comes to shoveling shit (oops not shit - I mean manure ... lol.)
-
@Kiddies, kiddies pul-lease
Know that shooting you would produce a painless death. There's no fun in that for the man. Know also that if I hear one more policewoman remark I'll stand with the man, taser you both and watch you take a very long time to go bananas ... joking, of course, maybe, I think
OMG I've joined the clown cabal. How shameful. I have helped to take this serious thread off course. Slinking away ....

@thegoodknife: "any questions for us admins you'd like me to get answered?"
I would like to know where do you guys advertise?
From where MOST of your traffic come from?
Stats on free traffic - How do we get that?
Stats on websites you are currently advertising on - Please name it!
Stats on How many subscribers/members does BC have? - Please Show us the #s!
Stats on "active" and "non-active" members?
Do you have a system to get them back here?
Sorry...
But You asked us to ask:-P
I do have many other questions!
Thanks in advance Tiger! Grrrrrrr -

Ok, I'll be serious for a second.
You did the most talkative members, how about the members with the most friends? Or the most neighborhoods?
It's not a popularity contest. Ok, actually, that's exactly what it is.
Then, tell us how you monitor the forums while doing 80 on the highway. I think we all want to hear about that
-
I would like to see a technocrati type ticker across the top with announcements-congrats or anything positive a really cool chat room not one of those lame IRC or java style,this way people could talk in REAL time etc.
And what about having a blog within blogcatalog like ning and we put our google code in ?
Also I would feature blogs on the move up ^ not just blogs that already get a lot of props.Finally I like that server info like a insiders view I think would be very interesting.But on the real side I have to say I have no complaints,I like alot of the features and people and it can only get better I just mention some ideas but I'm happy already GREAT job Thanks -
Do you think if we all chant they'll move it to the East Coast, or close the invitations to non annoying East Coasters only?
(East Coast, East Coast Eas.... Bizzz! OUCH! DaAmN i gOt elcTroCutEd An' sTuFF) -
If you need some sympathy and encouragement, you can check out the Ning community for NaBloPoMo. It used to be just each November, but now it's an on-going challenge for people to post every day for a month. www.nablopomo.com/

also if someone wants to shamelessly start a new thread to promote this post, feel free to do so. -
I think this blog catalog is fantastic the way it is...I am still learning how to do some stuff in here. I am not sure if there is anything more I want to see added, except for some smilies, they can make or break a post! Course as I hang around here longer and longer then I will become more of an expert and can demand more from the product! lol

One thing I would like to see in Blog Catalog is more levels in the directory. One great thing about the internet is access to the long tail. But how can we find those long tail blogs without a better index.
For example my blog is on real estate investing. If I go to Business/ real estate, that is as fine a search as I can do. My blog is burried on page 24 of 43. So if someone is looking for a blog on real estate investing. The have to slog through Hundreds of real estate blogs totally unrelated to their interest to find what they want. If I am intersted in real estate investing I am probably not interested in blogs about real estate in Africa some small county in Ohio. But if I AM intersted in real estate in Ohio I don't want to fish through blogs on real estate investing, or Africa for that matter.
I am sure Breaking it down to another level or two would help. for example Business/ real estate and then choices of; comercial real estate, rental real estate, agent blogs, regional blogs, real estate investment etc. I am sure this is an issue not just for me but many blogs that are in the long tail and have specific appeal. This would not only benefit the blog through greater visibility but benefits the reader by helping them find exactly the info they are looking for.
Thanks for reading,
Ned Carey -
In the meanwhile, I would like to make the suggestion that you can use Google search and define the terms accordingly to narrow your searches and produce more relevant results.
Google search - real estate investing site:www.blogcatalog.com
www.google.ca/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channe...
Google search - Oregon real estate investing site:www.blogcatalog.com
www.google.ca/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla:en-US...
Google search - Oregon commercial real estate investing site:www.blogcatalog.com
www.google.ca/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla:en-US...
Note that there is no space between the word "site" and the colon site: -
@ncarey
Re: How to narrow Google searches - you're welcome.
Bloggers everywhere are asking social networks for better search capabilities without recognizing two points:
(1) Google (and other search engines) do it better and faster;
(2) Search applications are resource hogs.
I have discovered that many bloggers really don't know how to use search engines to their full capacity. If I ever have any time to do so I may actually blog this ...lol
Re: onecoolsite and got 2 cool ideas - YAY!
Re:credit if you use my ideas in a post of your own please share some link love by backlinking to the posts that contain the ones you use. All blogging tips blogs tend to be "revolving door" blogs. They get hits and comments but, the bloggers who got the help naturally go back to their niche blogging. The result is that a blogging tips blog rarely gets back links. My blog is focused on beginners so naturally I don't get links from the bloggers who post more advanced blogging tips for more advanced bloggers. My blog needs backlinks. -
According to your stats, how much money has the highest earner made on a monthly basis from BlogCatalog?
Is there a breakdown of payouts to date by BlogCatalog to its participants?
BlogCatlog, if it is going to remain relevant, must move into the "collaborative action" stage of the blog-sphere. What are your plans to accomplish this transition?

"Is there a breakdown of payouts to date by BlogCatalog to its participants?"
Ahem ... I do believe that he mis-apprehends what BC is all about.
On a lighter note, I do believe that if I found the Tiger in my bank account it would be after he had starved to death while searching in vain for a penny.
