I guess it depends on whether, or not you're neglecting other duties when you're blogging. Otherwise, we all have different things we enjoy. If some people enjoy blogging, cool. -
Yes- for 95% of bloggers.
no- for 2 %-

But who are you to determine whether others are wasting their time or not?

It's a waste of time to blog on my MpSpace page. None of those yahoos in my friend's list ever read my blogs. And that includes my worthless family. LOLOL

i like blogging...every day after work..i always stay long time in the front of my pc...i know this is wasting time, but i love it -
yes! i started it as my hobby but has become my addiction....so i want to say it is addictive.

but there are also lot of bloggers out there who get benefits from it. they make money through blogging. -
Define waste of time -
Practically everything we do (except earning money and doing chores) could be deemed a waste of time.
Why does one have to have a philosophy to explain why they don't view their pastimes, hobbies, interests as a waste of time. -
All life is wasting time. Blogging is just a small part of it. -

Blogging is indeed a waste of time as far as money is concerned.
Making money from blogging was difficult and will get more and more difficult.
There is very little original blogging these days. And do not really expect this situation to improve.
So, a very, very small percentage of blogs will make enough money to feed a pet...
But it sure helps getting what you think out and keeping you in balance. -

Sometimes is a waste of time but sometimes is a interesting way to let you free writing some unnecessary things because all is unnecessary, newspaper do it too many times, unnecessary news to earn money. A better unnecessary articles. -
I enjoy blogging so I don't think it's a waste of time. It's only a waste of time if it, like any other hobby, starts to take priority over more important things.-
Oh yeah, like blogging and drinking.

Take priority over more important things? Like WHAT more important things, you mean like reality?
It probably is a waste of time, this is a waste of time but then a regular conversation could be classified as a waste of time. For some reason I'm thinking of Spock on Star Trek but we won't go there.
For those that make money or derive psychological benefits from blogging it's not a waste of time in any sense of the word.
I've made $40, whoo hoo. -
Everything we do could be classified as a waste of time if you really think about it. But we do most thing with a reason behind them. My reason for blogging is like what some people's might be for watching movies or reading books. It's an temporarily escape from the stresses of life. Everything in moderation I suppose. I don't blog for money, so I guess I get more an emotional satisfaction from it all.

Blogging is fun, you can express yourself and do that with complete freedom. If you're looking for money then there are lots of ways to improve. -

It depends on how do you feel and how did u manage your blog i guess.
Its subjective..if u load ur blog with info and something that can help
or contribute to people,how can we see it as a great wasting of time? -

I don't agree. Unless you are only after the money you can earn which is not even enough to pay the internet bill monthly if you don't have viewers. I love blogging because it makes me feel good. -
I'll have to say it's the most productive two months for me, but I'm not in this for the money. It's a labor of love. -

it's only a waste of time if you blog in ms word but forget to email the posts as attachments, like i did for the first year. -
Journaling or just about any kind of writing is good brain exercise. Writing down your thoughts is good for your mental health. Doing creative writing is good for your soul. I can't see how doing something that in one way or another is going to benefit you can be a considered waste of time.
If you are blogging and your spouse is in labor and you are ignoring her cries to drive her to the hospital then maybe it's a waste of time at that moment. -
truly it is. What have I spent most of my life doing other than wasting time. -
Certainly not for me. I write my blog to support my upcoming book. The more people who know my writing and, hopefully, enjoy what I have to say, the more I'm likely to be successful. Besides, I don't think anything that allows you to express your creativity is a waste of time; sometimes, perhaps, the focus on blog vs. life can get a tad skewed but, other than that, I don't see a real downside. -
no blogging is amazing, its exciting, invigorating etc. -
Yes, of course. Why? We could be doing something productive. -
Expressing yourself is NEVER a waste of time. More people should do it more often. -
