I am looking to add a few good blogs more to my blogroll. Leave a post in this thread if you think yours might qualify. If I like your blog, I'll put you on my blogroll/reading list.

The date on this thread is 10/20/08 and here it is over four months later on New Year's Eve. It's a good night for building community goodwill but as usual you are resurrecting old threads and making no valuable contribution to them. I'll let Admin decide what your motivation in resurrecting an old thread like this one is and then adding nothing of value to it.

I think it is important to take into account the intent of the poster in these discussions. It's true that Riley doesnt need the traffic and asking for quality content for his blogroll is to be taken at face value and is not intended as spam.

I disagree with the call you made here. IMO the guidelines either ought to apply to everyone or to no one. And this is what they say about link exchanges:

I'm sure that you do take the request for quality content for this experienced blogger's blogroll's into account. He has 4 blogs and three of them have a Google page rank of 0/10. The fourth has a page rank of only 1/10. -
PR is only one measure of the quality of a blog and it doesn't reflect a bloggers intentions in the community.
The guidelines are guidelines. They are not rules. That means we have discretion in deciding what is spam and what isn't.
Part of being in a community member is treating people with respect. There is no reason to question every decision that is made or attack another member(and his blogs) whom you do not know.
TT please use the report button if you have a problem with a particular post. The business of personally picking on every person who you think oversteps a guideline can turn people off from wanting to be a part of the BlogCatalog community. It does more harm than good. -

hardly a flogging, she was just being helpful. I mean, threads for the sole purpose of link drops are against the rules as it clearly says in the "read before posting" post you had to click that you read before posting.

Thanks to everyone. I'm going to stop now. I have left a few comments and sent a few private messages. It's encouraging to me to see so much interest in starting blogs. While some people in this thread have older blogs, most only had 3 or 4 months in the archives. This is a great time to learn the ropes and in some cases reinvent them If I didn't add you to my blogroll don't sweat it. It's just because our interests don't really overlap. I like to get to know some blogs over time and some I take on to read end up falling by the wayside. That's how blogrolls "roll" for me. Thanks again and see you around.

My atempt to import a new template failed miserably - they just don't work like I thought they would. I'm still working on the other stuff you recomended- as time allowes. Can I add "categories" to my blogspot blog? -

(1) I can help you with wordpress blogs. I cannot help you with Blogger blogs.
(2) Free hosted wordpress.com and self hosted wordpress.org run on different software. en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1
You cannot upload a template into a free hosted wordpress.com blog. You can only use the themes found here -> Dashboard -> Design -> Themes (There are 70 of them to choose from)
(3) I used the Search utility at the top of the page here and found you some related blogs that are registered here at BC that you can visit and check out:

i'd love some feedback on the title of my blog. the blog is about eating disorders, body image and self-esteem. i write a lot about getting away from the tyranny of the number on the scale.
the blog is called Balancing the Scales. i wonder if the name is confusing. should i change the name to something like I HATE TO WEIGHT or NO WEIGH? or something else that tells more about the blogs title.

Titles are like children, they stay with you. I always recommend to people to not launch until that have at least 20 posts. Then, it is sometimes easier to come up with a cool title. I think the only recommendation I would have would be to keep it short 1-5 words. Other than that, start making a list of options. Let us know when you get the name you like. For almost a year my blog was called "Riley Central" then I found a niche in psychology and inspiration and rebranded it "Postcards from the Funny Farm."

Thank you. It looks like you are on the right track. Thanks for linking one of my PR posts. I've written about when I was a PR2 a PR3 a PR4 and a PR0 as well as when I was banned for a short period of time. Funny thing is, now they have me at 1 when I am making more money and getting more backlinks and visitors than ever. I thin kit's time for a new post with all I have learned. Mostly that PR doesn't matter a hill of beans to having fun, writing, and profiting from your blog.
