Topics: feminism, women
I would like to read some blogs written by women. Of course I am a feminist so anything along that line would be great.

ME, no I'm not a feminist, those guys have just got something we girls don't have, it's not much usually, but it's an important not much.

I am not a feminist...more of a weird combination of opinions and beliefs from modern and traditional views. Take a look and let me know what you think. I'd suggest you read my post radioactivecats.blogspot.com/2008/05/city-taken-for-god.html for a good idea of my view of men and women.

Have you ever read huffingtonpost.com by Andriana? It's a blog most men hate.

Nice post and nice blog. I know I've read you at some point before but one thing I've noticed as today I'm also looking around a new area stemming out of "20 something bloggers" called "20 something female bloggers" is when it's narrowed down to women, politics, blogging etc. I am much more likely to find blogs I like then when I am looking at a huge social network.

Ginger, here are two outstanding blogs for you:
needled.wordpress.com/ by a Scottish girl who has great insight into popular culture (check out her posts about books in particular and about the domestic in drag); AND
knitaluscious.blogspot.com/ by Felix, a woman who knows her feminism well and who is writing a PhD on the domestic soundscape.
Both of them talk extensively about crafts as well, and link these to the creative process and the critical one as well.
My blog domestic-miss.blogspot.com is very much centred on domesticity (or the rejection of it), yet, while writing it, I realised that it is not so much a j'accuse of my domestic life but a celebration of the grind which is the never the same. Lately, I've started to talk extensively about the creative process while referring to relevant reads. I am completing a PhD on popular culture, therefore some of it also is leaking in.
I hope you will find these of interest. -
And these as well!!
rosylittlethings.typepad.com/ by Alicia Paulson, maker of all things cute. She blogs about her personal life and her creations. She blogs from Oregon;
www.frenchknots.typepad.co.uk/ who also blogs about her creations and her every-day life. She blogs from the UK. -

Mine is not really a feminist blog, but it does deal with being assaulted, and my long slow recovery from depression and post-traumatic stress. Plus, I talk about yoga and spiritual things along the way... and write the odd bit of poetry!

I'm not a feminist, I would be a humanist if the word wouldn't be reserved to mean something else.
Here's my blog though, as I definitely am a female: www.sebastyne.net/blog -

Not sure if I am a feminist or not. First off, I hate the color pink. I REALLY hate it! www.giggleon.com/2008/05/hate-pink/
Secondly, I'm not sure if I want equal rights with men. Why can't I have more rights?????? LOL :-) -
You can read my blog. It is dedicated *primarily to my journey of writing and publishing my memoir about my experiences as a former heroin addict, punk rock musician, and sex-industry worker. I am writing about my journey of addiction and recovery so that I can raise awareness about the need for free and available treatment in our society. You can visit my blog at blog.melindaville.com
*since I started blogging, I have written about other things as well--mostly about personal development, transformation and change, etc.
Thanks! -

I'm a woman and I blog:

And what is all this "I'm not a feminist" stuff? If it hadn't been for the first-wave (which I was part of), second- and third- wave women's movements, none of us would be where we are (and blogging) today!
So STFU! -

I'm a woman blogging about my search for a rural dream ... and with that will probably come lots of old-fashioned jam-making and baking while my husband works the land. Although I do bring pennies in so I'm trying to take on new roles and not just old-fashioned roles ... www.livingtheruraldream.com

It depends on your definition of feminist since it's been twisted this way and that, but in the true spirit of the word when it started out in the '60s [not even near the beginning of the women's rights movement, for those of you who may not know], it meant that women had something to add from their experiences that was not getting heard as well as being a humanist: a realization that both men and women were being shoved into cultural roles whether they fit them or not. And that discrimination is alive and well: women still do not get paid same wages for the same work as men do; women's "experiences are relegated to a separate category for "women's films" that are not promoted as widely nor thought to have the same appeal as "men's" movies, i.e., women's experience is not universal while theirs is. I taught for years and saw girls intimidated and shamed into thinking feminism was bad or trivial when if it hadn't been for the women who chained themselves to fences, went to prison, protested, etc., women would not have the rights that are forcefully being taken away now. Still, women are denigraded, treated as second class, and boys learn to treat them that way while sissy and faggot are still the worst things to get called on the playground. Those are the values of the Religious Right, of Rev. Rick Warren who will be speaking at Obama's inauguration....war, military, tough on crime, the concept of beat the truth out of them [or as Dobson in his parenting books suggest, punish your children using 1/4" PVC pipe]--all of these are old-style male role modeling still being shoved on our culture, on our children. One thing the women's movement taught me that I will never forget: the personal is political. As interest groups move in to force laws [and already have: Bush not only passed the law allowing pharmacists and dtrs to not give women any coverage that is against their conscience, they do not have to give a referral either. And by law, insurance companies do not have to cover birth control pills, tubal ligations or vasectomies], I think it important to remember that to many in power, our bodies do not belong to us, and they are indeed making it political.

My definition of 'Femenist' is one who refuses to live in the truth, blinded by percieved injustice, to the exclusion of reason. I have never, nor would I ever, opress in any way another person. I read historical accounts of past wrongs an while I empathise I cannot suffer my predicessors pain. My father was a Firefighter - that makes me what? A guy trying to live my life. I have no special insight into firefighting. The same for the fact that my great great grandfather did bad things. Am I to pay for those wrongs? How could I pay for those wrongs? I understand that there are currently bad things happening, does that make all men guilty of the crimes of others by virtue of thier gender? When my employer stole the pension fund - I lost my retirement as much as my female co-workers did. Bush's laws affected me as much as my wife. I guess I'm just concerned that there is a perception being presented that only women suffer from ba government, bad companies, bad societal acceptances. I am a right wing conservative male who can listen to other views, I hope you put down the broad paint brush you've painted men, Christians, politicians, etc. with and look at each individual, as I think you would like to be. Great posts. PEACE!
