While browsing around for various other directories out of curiosity, I found:

www.blogsbywomen.org/

Any BC women bloggers listed here? It has a $5 fee, which always makes me wary. Not that five dollars is a swindle or a hardship, I'm sure I have more change than that in my SUV's ashtray, LOL... but I've not paid for any crawlers or directories now.

Are they worth it? They claim to keep out spam and splogs with a fee, as they are "human edited," but do such places genuinely result in any advantages?

maybe more serious bloggers or quality? Usually when you have to pay...the market is more targeted and probably more sales down the road!

"how do they know if you're a woman blogger?"

They take a peek under the skirt.

I would be really wary of any place that demands an initiation fee. I don't see how they can do what they claim to do, really.

There's another site that focuses on women bloggers that you might want to look up: Blogher. They don't require any kind of fee either.

Yes, I am listed but I never payed anything? Oh I see, they have just recently implemented the one time lifetime fee!

Jafabrit - Have you seen any concrete advantages from that directory?

Are there any organizations/directories for blogs by men?

I haven't come across any in my directory-sweep. The ones "for" women were started by teams of women.

I'm not listed there, but I am at BlogHer.

I like BlogHer because of the sense of camaraderie that exists between writers there. I've met some great women doing the same thing I do through that site.

But I also enjoy the diverse group here at BC. When I consider where my blogs are listed and the traffic I get from each listing service, BC is a mainstay where the traffic from others is spotty at best.

I would explore their directory and email blog authors who are listing with them. That way you can hear their perspectives on the pros & cons of BlogsByWomen in a way that doesn't require that they make a public statement. (You might get a more honest take that way.)

Pillow, there is another site that I am a part of called "Blogging Women" and they are just great, very supportive! Also another great community is SITS.

Maybe these will better suit your needs
