This morning I made challah french toast with a strawberry reduction sauce. It was my first time cooking in a while and it felt great.

What did you have for your Sunday breakfast?

    1. cookingasshole
      what kind of cracker?
    2. Agit8r
I made French toast out of French bread once. It was da bomb
    3. cookingasshole
that is the one of the best ways to do it!
    4. neo1962
Wheat... I think... no wait... yes, wheat.
    5. MidwestMom
You bet, Agit8r! The best french toast is made with day-old crusty bread. It soaks up the custard better when it's a little dry.

I have to admit, our recipe for french toast is a bit on the rich side. With a little sugar and heavy cream, it gets a nice, glossy brown crust -- delicious!

Sorry, guys... gotta go [runs to kitchen to start cooking]
    1. cookingasshole

    2. tcinvestor
Actually, used a wheat free bread from a company called Sami's. It is a Millet Flax bread. Good for you and personally is better for me.

    3. cookingasshole
I would love to eat them for days on end...they were SO good!
    4. DollinNYC
Keep eating them, you will be too fat to lift your arm and I will kick your ass in Wii tennis.
    5. cookingasshole
you know I am the master of masters in Wii tennis so don't even front.
    6. DollinNYC
Not if your controller is covered in jelly (among other things), which I'm sure it is.
    7. cookingasshole
my controller is covered in nothing but victorious beads of sweat.
    8. DollinNYC
Is that what you call it??
    9. cookingasshole
no I call 'it' something entirely different that is inappropriate to be discussed in a public forum

Chocolate chip banana nut bread. Not very healthy, but very tasty. Freshly homemade and so damn good!
    1. cookingasshole
      that sounds awesome!
  13. aspotofblog
I get fat just reading your discussions, CA.
    1. DollinNYC
hmm looks great but mine was better and I didn't have to clean up.
    2. cookingasshole
I am seriously doubting yours was better...plus I have not even cleaned up yet, so there!
  14. aspotofblog
Mmm, that looks yummy. That's part of the problem. I read your threads about the delicious food that you're cooking and then my mouth starts watering and I want to eat! Even if I'm not hungry.
    1. cookingasshole
I don't end up eating as much as you would think. A lot of the time I have my woman bring my stuff to work for her to share with her co-workers.
  15. aspotofblog
I want to be your wife's coworker!
  16. FreakSmack
I had two slices of some kick-ass cold pizza left over from Saturday night
  17. alexinabox
Rice, because I'm Asian, and other generic asian food you will not know.
    1. cookingasshole
      you eat rice for breakfast?
  18. LisaNYC
I use to eat brown rice for breakfast back in my macrobiotic days. Sometimes cooked with other grains and lots of water to make a porridge, with umboshi. It's called soft rice, and is delish.
    1. gerryPlanetEarth
I too enjoy rice and grains...The challenge however is finding flavorings other than sugar...
  19. LisaNYC
Yeah, I never eat sugar. I'll occasionally use rice syrup or barley malt which has the consistency and taste of honey, but is much more balanced. On rice and grains I'll use Gomasio (sesame shake w/sea salt) or Umboshi.
  20. celticmusicfan
yum. i eat cereal now but i occasionally have rice.
  21. MidwestMom
Okay, now... seriously. My favorite breakfast is what I had *yesterday*.

2 egg omelet with a filling of diced tomatoes from the garden, basil confetti, and a touch (not too much) of shredded monterey jack cheese. A little salt & pepper, orange juice on the side, and I'm a happy lady.

    1. cookingasshole
that sounds good! but what did you have today?
    2. MidwestMom
Weekday breakfasts are so sad, really.

      Good, strong coffee (a must)
      Plain yogurt
      Fresh blueberries

end of story (see, I told you it was sad.)
    3. cookingasshole
that is better than me...I got nothing and I am about to go get some coffee
    4. MidwestMom
Here... have a blueberry to go with it.

      o
