What the lowest, or most pathetic, or most desperate things you've done for money, to save money or because you had no money...

Come one, be honest...no judgement.

    2. dbowles1017

    3. DaniG
Sell your horns! One at a time...anticipation heightens value!
    4. Sharonydouglas
the only thing I have to pawn is my very old TV
  2. brianomaracroft
I've thought about selling pets into prostitution...does that count?
    1. lotusb
      Is that like dog breeding?
    2. brianomaracroft
I didn't name it. I just dressed them up kinda slutty and told them not to scratch at the back door until they had my money.
    3. sorcerer
      wow!! lol
    4. Sharonydouglas

    Steal food from supermarkets.
    1. brianomaracroft
Steal pets from pet stores...and then sell them into prostitution.
    2. Sharonydouglas
I hate to admit but yes I've stolen when I was broke
  4. Shiley
I'm thinking real hard and I can't come up with anything. If this had been about my relatives I could have. I borrowed $500 from my mom once and I paid her back so it doesn't count.
    1. Sharonydouglas
      yeah that doesn't really count
  5. sjtavo
dug through couches and cars for enough money to buy some mac & cheese, milk and butter so we could eat over the weekend until we got paid. my ex and i used to steal smokes from his parents, as well as raid their freezer/cupboards when they weren't home.
    1. lotusb
Me and my first room mate (I was 17) did that. We would pretend to visit our parents together and stick food and toilet paper into our cloths and purses. It was half hilarious half kind of shameful...lol.
    2. Sharonydouglas
oh yeah I have a penny bank in my room
  6. lotusb
I pawned some old jewelry for gas money once.
  7. nothingprofound
Actually the lowest, most pathetic thing I did for money was work at a job. Fortunately, I recovered my self-esteem and retired.
    1. brianomaracroft
Yeah, I've done that, too. Craziness...
    2. Sharonydouglas
I know working for your money is the worst feeling there is lol
  8. Deray28
I tried to sell a ring that an ex gave me but the shop wouldn't take it because it didn't have enough gold, I was counting on some money, only to find out how cheap my ex was, jajajaja.
    1. Sharonydouglas
lol!!! I guess you should just give that away to a complete stranger.. You might make their day
  9. morgantj
    I borrowed money.
    1. brianomaracroft
I've been meaning to ask you about that.
    2. morgantj
I have been avoiding you because of it.

Lunch off the dollar menu at McD's.
    1. amybyrd21
so been there and counting pennies to do it.
  12. wagerwitch
You all are saying pawning is bad.

    It isn't.

You are paying a high percentage if you want to get your things back - it's a garage sale kinda thing.

    It isn't bad at all.

Kings and Queens have pawned things.

Methinks the Hope Diamond has been pawned a few times.

Pawning isn't a bad thing - it helps you get out of a bad situation or gives you extra spending cash when you need it.
    1. dbowles1017
It's bad when it's your only source of income. And run out of things to pawn
    2. brianomaracroft
Or if you're pawning loved ones.
    3. wagerwitch
Brian - you're just pawning off your little sluttly-like pets because they aren't bringing in enough money...

      *wink*

I have sold off antiques (that sat here and collected dust) and farm animals (16 pigs are still here so I nmade no dent)

My step kids write checks for the check into cash places or the title loan places and then give them my number so when they dont pay they call me.

I thought about selling my hubby but someone would bring him back because he is so picky at feeding time. My kids eat better than he does. lol
    1. brianomaracroft
What's a good hog go for these days, anyway?
    2. amybyrd21
haha $50 for a weenier pig and $250 to $400 for on topped off and ready to go to the slaughter house
    3. lifeshighway
      snort, weenier pig

Back in my teen years, I ran away from home. I would make men think I was going to sleep with them (or actually go through with the deed) just to have a place to stay.

So glad those days are behind me.
    1. nothingprofound
Was that you? I knew that striped blouse looked familar.
    2. MissSuzie
It was me and thanks, your pillows were the coziest.
    3. nothingprofound
My pleasure. I'm glad I finally learned your real name. I thought Greta Garbo was a little suspicious.
    4. MissSuzie
It was either that or Hilda Hergendorf.
    5. nothingprofound
That was the young runaway I picked up the next night

about a decade ago when i was working janitorial, I was so broke that I would eat packaged non-perishables that people would throw away.
    1. brianomaracroft
I ate a frostbitten handful of peas in a can of Franco-American gravy while I was in college...and then smoked three cigarettes I found behind the fridge (from the last tenant).
    2. Agit8r
the worst time, I ate a muffin that was in a wrapper, and sitting in plain view in the person's office wastebaket. Then I dumped the can and noticed a feminine product in there... IN HER OFFICE TRASH!!!!
  16. ArsenicCookies
in 2002 I pawned $9k worth of jewelry for $750.. talk about a friggin loss!!!
  17. DaniG
Had to consider the reality of needing to give my kids up to foster care because we couldn't make ends meet. It was DEVASTATING to me, that I could not afford a gallon of milk to feed our eldest, who was 2, and was breastfeeding the newborn. A friend bought me some milk and I went to the library and checked out EVERY book on how not to be poor. That moment changed my life.
    1. Guzzo
That's seriously broke, Dani. I'm curious as to how that moment changed your life? These type of stories really pique my interest. Have you written a post about it anywhere that I could read?
  18. LolitaV
I promised to have sex w/ my husband for 100$. I kept my word and he didn't keep his =( I still resent him for that, lol!
    1. brianomaracroft
Send him a bill, with interest
  19. Sharonydouglas

  20. deoangel
PayDay loans! I don't recommend it and will never ever ever do that sh** again...lol
  21. trailofpen
I was so broke in college at one point (from being a bum) that I applied at Target on a whim while shopping there. I got hired the next day and began my shameful experience as the only other student at my university to work at Target (this after previously having worked as a mortgage loan officer). I then comitted seppuku.
