I don't know if anyone else has seen this picture but I just did and it left me speachless.

You will need to scroll half way down the page to start seeing the pictures.

You won't be dissapointed.
Ever see anything like this?

I also did a Google search for this story and it is real. You can google "Building Collapse In China" and see for yourself.

Photoshopped! The shadows are all wrong!

I have to say it's actually a really good shop then, because you have to look very closely to spot those things.

But let's be honest. Unless that building was made of rubber there is no way it would survive the impact from falling over.

If it didn't break, it's very well constructed.

      Oh, right. It fell over.

Google the story it is all over..

See, this is why there should be a sarcastic smiley

It was caused by soil erosion from a nearby levee break. The building was basically swept off it's foundation. Honestly, it also probably had something to do with inferior concrete, foundations that aren't anchored enough, and poor engineering.

Also, those columns look hollow. I know construction practices are different in different countries, but here in the US, columns are either steel or solid concrete. So, the hollow concrete looks really strange to me.

And there are buildings like it all around! Uh-oh.
    2. PotatoChef
      And where is the rebar?
    3. Stillthinking
I know! I was wondering that myself, but like I said, different countries, different building practices.

But China has serious issues with quality control of building materials like concrete, drywall and steel. That is why no matter how much money you save by buying imported building materials, you are better off liability wise buying American. Unfortunately, we can't control if contractors follow our buying specifications. Contractors are notorious cheapskates.

Well, this isn't the first time a building has just fallen over or collapsed in China. It's a mixture of poor engineering, rushed construction, and bad quality control.

I agree that there must be something wrong with quality control. Hmmm I wonder what happened to the people inside.
    1. Stillthinking
The article said the building was incomplete and was empty.
  4. JonnyDunMind
That is incredible. I have never seen anything like it.

It's surreal. I bet its distorting to stand by an almost intact building thats on its side.

It would be weird to see. Kind of like seeing a large ocean ship out of water and in dry dock.

To be honest - it must have been a VERY slow topple.

If it had been immediate - it would have broken more windows.

It must have been cushioned by severe mud on the last fall part.

And personally - I think the way the pipes are snapped - it was extremely slow.

Whether it is true or not - this is very amazing - and sad that there are OTHER buildings around as well of the same construction.

That construction company is going to have a SERIOUS problem... Bet they flee the country...
    1. Stillthinking
Those weren't pipes, they were columns. See above comment ^.
    2. wagerwitch
If those are columns - then they SHOULD have been pipes... LMAO!
    3. Agit8r
Stillthinking, you seem to know A LOT about this building... is there something you'd like to tell us? (o_O)
    4. Stillthinking
I'm an architect, not THE ARCHITECT. No, I had nothing to do with this building.
  6. celticmusicfan
I still can't get over the fact that it fell whole. Like a toy.
    1. trailofpen
Well, atleast they knew the building was solid apart for the foundation. I guess that's an engineering achievement.
    2. Friday13
I wonder if they're going to lay tiles on the lower walls and put lamps on the ones right above. New floors and ceilings. It'll be a one-level building now!
    3. PotatoChef
Not really the type of achievement they were after....but some type of freaky achievement.
  7. celticmusicfan
I think they'll pull it up. Knowing it's really that solid to withstand the fall.
  8. PotatoChef
I can't just let this one fade away...
