So I just went to make a Subway run for everyone, and come to find out that if you toast your sub in California, you have to pay sales tax. What the heck is up with that? You have to pay 9% on a 10 second run in the microwave oven? What do you think about this toasted sub tax?

No, it's a $5.45 footlong. And, the lady didn't even ask me. She just toasted it and told me afterwards. Thanks woman!

this is actually a very interesting and unique situation...it cracks me up for some reason

mostly because we have no sales tax in Oregon

So, is it not taxed if you don't have it toasted?

All prepared foods here are taxed. I'm surprised it isn't taxed in Cali as well.

When Cali raises the sales tax to above 10%, all hell will break loose

Our taxes aren't that high yet save for cigarettes. (It's 50% tax on smokes!)
    3. trailofpen
      Holy crap. I'm glad I don't smoke.

We pay tax on all food here. We have no state tax so that is suppost to make up for it. A $1 hambuger si actually $1.10 here.
