That's a nice thing to do. It's not an easy job. Pretty tedious to some.
    2. BlogSmartly
I also helped my friend tweak his blog since he is new to all this stuff.

I try to bring a smile to people's faces.
    1. footiam
Some people don't smile. I feel silly when I smile to such people but then, they are not nice people and we are. Thanks God!

Yesterday, I missed my train home because when I left my office I ran into a blind man on the street who needed help finding an address. And it turned out that it was good that this put me behind schedule, because I arrived at the train station at just the right time to end up on the escalator with a college-age girl who was traveling by Amtrak alone and terrified of Union Station (Chicago) and certain that she'd never find her gate in time because all the escalators in the right place seemed to be running in the same direction.

That's really nice Madame X.. reminds of me the movie Amelie where she helps a blind man cross the street and describes what she is seeing. Very touching
    2. Unfettered
      I agree. MadameX rocks.

And that was one of my favorite scenes from Amelie!

I baked cookies for my elderly neighbors. They haven't been feeling well and love my baking skills (or at least that's what they tell me ).
    1. footiam
It would be great to be your neighbor!
  5. daisythecurlycat
Well, I am a cat so I do not do good deeds. Unless purring counts. But my Mommie volunteers three days a week at a no-kill cat rescue shelter (about 10 hours a week).
    1. gusland
That's great of your mum !
Sure would be great if there was something like that around here.. but no..have checked..

    Greetings
I introduced one type of bacteria to another, they seem to be getting along great and thriving in the media to produce electricity. Maybe I should change my middle name to CUPID.
Love is in the air....I mean the media.

I sent a friend of mine that was going through some rough times, a box of JellyBellys. She really enjoyed them and it cheered her up.
    1. footiam
      That's nice!

I gave two adorable little outfits to my niece's new baby.
Bought everyone's dinner at a birthday party last weekend.

Didn't scream at or decapitate the neighbor kid, who was riding his ATV around and around and around and around and around and around my house yesterday.

One kind of solace you could take from doing good deeds: Jesus loves me; it's everybody else who thinks I'm an ass.
    1. footiam
Not everybody. At least not me. That's because I don't know you well enough.
  10. gosmelltheflowers
We've said our 'please' and 'thankyou's at least five times so far today, but that doesn't seem like a lot compared to all the good things everyone else is doing.
    1. footiam
It's something and a lot to a lot of people. By the way, thanks!
  11. funepets
Spent quality time talking to a friend who is having difficulties in her relationship. Hope that counts.
    1. footiam
      You are a good friend.

I'm waiting for somebody to help me across the street.
    1. footiam
Maybe, it's better to help someone to cross the street.
  14. sarae67
    Yes, I helped someone today!

I took my friend's son(5 yrs old)out today shopping! Sugared him up with chocolate, bought him a very loud noisy toy and then sent him home!
    1. gusland
      Very well done
    2. footiam
      I wish I am your friend's son!

A couple of days ago, a blind man was looking for the dentist's office. I was in my apartment, leaning out of the window smoking a cigarette. I watched him for a minute or two as several people walked by. Obviously this man was totally lost. As I got on my shoes to go help, someone else beat me to it. But since I needed to go to the store anyhow, I went. A man in a wheelchair was stuck in the door. He couldn't get the wheels over the rubber strip at the bottom. He allowed me to help him, though it clearly offended his sense of independence to be asked. He was thankful afterward though, and it made my day a little brighter.

I visited the Senior Home on Christmas Eve....if that counts in any way
Made Christmas "dinner" for my cats ...lol
    WOW...I'm a regular saint

last night I am on the way to a mosque for prayer. It is raining and I saw an old man walking and soaking. I stopped my car and invited him in. He is on the way to the same mosque too. After prayer, the old man not to be seen at the mosque. Ermmm...

I've left handwritten notes at coffee shops and restaurants thanking the waitress for the good service. I always tip well, of course, but sometimes they like to hear that they're appreciated and doing a good job too.

Yesterday, I was walking back from work when I heard a thud behind me, I looked back to see a hungry tiger had dropped from the trees. Thus I began to run down the path with the tiger in hot pursuit.
As I fled, top speed, the path took a turn and when I rounded it, I saw the trail ended suddenly and beyond was a deep, deep chasm.
Having little choice, I leapt from the ledge but as I fell, I was able to catch a vine that was growing from the side of the cliff.
The tiger caught up and paced above me on the ledge. As I looked down at the jagged rocks, far, far below, I felt the roots of the vine began to give way as they were being gnawned by two mice: a white one and black one.
So I plucked one of the fruits that grew on the vine and ate it. No other fruit that I have eaten tasted to nice.

That's a nice story. It's not Aesop, I suppose. There are lots of good stories from the past, from Jataka tales, from India, China etc and I enjoy them all. Thanks.

I smiled at a stranger....a real smile not a artificial one!

I watched a few minutes of the GOP Convention without yelling at the TV. Oh, and I volunteered to do some work for my local food pantry.
    1. footiam
That sounds great! Don't let the idiot box makes an idiot of us!
  22. fstasu
We volunteer at our local homeless mission at least once a week, more when work allows. Also we bake the holiday pies for the mission. It's a labor of love.
  23. LGramlich
Lately? We gave our unprepared neighbor lots of delicious, BBQ-ed foods during our Hurricane Gustav ordeal.
    1. footiam
I wish I am your neighbour. It's not easy getting good neighbours!
  24. siralmo
i do lots of nice things for people i just cant remember what they were

I did not allow anyone, including our kids, to interfere with time with my wife. Nice way to spend our latest anniversary together!
  26. MrCheeseburger
Last time I did something nice for someone, I woke up next to a man.
    1. footiam
Go on being nice! And enjoy being nice!

I did not complain about how poorly the majority of canadians tip. The less said the better. That is my nice thing tonight.
  28. sisterofmercy
I invited this girl who was going to be alone at new years to my party. I also held the door open for an elderly gentleman at the supermarket the other day.
  29. jjmezzio
Just wondering - Is it necessary to tell your good deeds to people if you are truly sincere?
    1. sisterofmercy
Probably not, but it does show that there are still elements of compassion about these days and that's nice to know at least.
    2. Arnous81
Its good if your intention is to maybe influence others.

I joined as a volunteer for the board of directors of our local homeless teen shelter and will get involved in their work in 2009. That was my 2008 new years resolution and I am happy to be able to help them.

I don't know if this would count but last night, during the ear-splitting fireworks at the stroke of new year's day, I let all our five dogs stay inside my room with me. We have this fear of explosions and very loud sounds. Those poor dogs are miserable during new year's day fireworks. I hope this tradition finally stops.
    1. footiam
      The good intention counts!

I'm helping to support an online friend atm, whose 9 month old puppy was hit by a car a couple days ago and had to be pts
I have put some money towards a star to be named after her puppy, with some other very caring online friends of hers.
She has no idea we are doing this for her yet.
    1. footiam
That's a nice gesture but if she doesn't know, probably it doesn't count!
  34. MissSuzie
What nice things have you done lately?
I do nice things all the time. Just today, I made a batch of brownies for my elderly neighbor (who insists on reminding me how much he loves chocolate).

Have you helped an old man or a young boy cross the road?
I didn't push one into oncoming traffic. Does that count?

Have you something sweet to say to mama or papa?
My brothers and I helped install their wood flooring and I'm sure there were plenty of "naughty words" leaving our lips, but it's the thought that counts, right?
    1. footiam
      You deserve a kiss!
  35. wagerwitch
I try to do nice things every single day.

But some days - I feel - that someone needs to do something nice for me.

Today is one of those days -- that I've given everyone smiles for so long - that I just need one smile - or some laughter.

But all the time - every day that I can - I do something for everyone else.

It's just the way it should be.

And in the end, I have found that it allows people to walk all over me and observe me as being weak.

    I don't think I'm weak.

But there are days... Days like today --- when I feel like it was all done for nothing.

    Except.

It is what keeps me ticking.

I cooked food for my husband.

I can't think of anything! Am I bad?
    1. footiam
      Don't think so.
