Yesterday, I missed my train home because when I left my office I ran into a blind man on the street who needed help finding an address. And it turned out that it was good that this put me behind schedule, because I arrived at the train station at just the right time to end up on the escalator with a college-age girl who was traveling by Amtrak alone and terrified of Union Station (Chicago) and certain that she'd never find her gate in time because all the escalators in the right place seemed to be running in the same direction.

I baked cookies for my elderly neighbors. They haven't been feeling well and love my baking skills (or at least that's what they tell me
). -
Well, I am a cat so I do not do good deeds. Unless purring counts. But my Mommie volunteers three days a week at a no-kill cat rescue shelter (about 10 hours a week).

Greetings
I introduced one type of bacteria to another, they seem to be getting along great and thriving in the media to produce electricity. Maybe I should change my middle name to CUPID.
Love is in the air....I mean the media.

I sent a friend of mine that was going through some rough times, a box of JellyBellys. She really enjoyed them and it cheered her up.

One kind of solace you could take from doing good deeds: Jesus loves me; it's everybody else who thinks I'm an ass.
-
We've said our 'please' and 'thankyou's at least five times so far today, but that doesn't seem like a lot compared to all the good things everyone else is doing.

Spent quality time talking to a friend who is having difficulties in her relationship. Hope that counts.

Yes, I helped someone today!
I took my friend's son(5 yrs old)out today shopping! Sugared him up with chocolate, bought him a very loud noisy toy and then sent him home! -
A couple of days ago, a blind man was looking for the dentist's office. I was in my apartment, leaning out of the window smoking a cigarette. I watched him for a minute or two as several people walked by. Obviously this man was totally lost. As I got on my shoes to go help, someone else beat me to it. But since I needed to go to the store anyhow, I went. A man in a wheelchair was stuck in the door. He couldn't get the wheels over the rubber strip at the bottom. He allowed me to help him, though it clearly offended his sense of independence to be asked. He was thankful afterward though, and it made my day a little brighter.

Yesterday, I was walking back from work when I heard a thud behind me, I looked back to see a hungry tiger had dropped from the trees. Thus I began to run down the path with the tiger in hot pursuit.
As I fled, top speed, the path took a turn and when I rounded it, I saw the trail ended suddenly and beyond was a deep, deep chasm.
Having little choice, I leapt from the ledge but as I fell, I was able to catch a vine that was growing from the side of the cliff.
The tiger caught up and paced above me on the ledge. As I looked down at the jagged rocks, far, far below, I felt the roots of the vine began to give way as they were being gnawned by two mice: a white one and black one.
So I plucked one of the fruits that grew on the vine and ate it. No other fruit that I have eaten tasted to nice. -
I watched a few minutes of the GOP Convention without yelling at the TV. Oh, and I volunteered to do some work for my local food pantry.

Lately? We gave our unprepared neighbor lots of delicious, BBQ-ed foods during our Hurricane Gustav ordeal.

I joined as a volunteer for the board of directors of our local homeless teen shelter and will get involved in their work in 2009. That was my 2008 new years resolution and I am happy to be able to help them.

I don't know if this would count but last night, during the ear-splitting fireworks at the stroke of new year's day, I let all our five dogs stay inside my room with me. We have this fear of explosions and very loud sounds. Those poor dogs are miserable during new year's day fireworks. I hope this tradition finally stops.

I'm helping to support an online friend atm, whose 9 month old puppy was hit by a car a couple days ago and had to be pts
I have put some money towards a star to be named after her puppy, with some other very caring online friends of hers.
She has no idea we are doing this for her yet. -
What nice things have you done lately?
I do nice things all the time. Just today, I made a batch of brownies for my elderly neighbor (who insists on reminding me how much he loves chocolate).
Have you helped an old man or a young boy cross the road?
I didn't push one into oncoming traffic. Does that count?
Have you something sweet to say to mama or papa?
My brothers and I helped install their wood flooring and I'm sure there were plenty of "naughty words" leaving our lips, but it's the thought that counts, right? -
I try to do nice things every single day.
But some days - I feel - that someone needs to do something nice for me.
Today is one of those days -- that I've given everyone smiles for so long - that I just need one smile - or some laughter.
But all the time - every day that I can - I do something for everyone else.
It's just the way it should be.
And in the end, I have found that it allows people to walk all over me and observe me as being weak.
I don't think I'm weak.
But there are days... Days like today --- when I feel like it was all done for nothing.
Except.
It is what keeps me ticking. -
