A few of us here are interested in kicking off a theme/subject each Wednesday. We would choose a subject/theme and those who were interested would post their contribution on their own blog on a Wednesday.
It is for ANYBODY, the click and go type of person through to the professional.
If you are interested please shout up.

DEFINITELY not a pro over here, but I'd be interested. -
OK, what about we start with a simple, yet practical subject.
I spy with my little eye, something beginning with "A"
Something being a noun, so would be the actual thing itself....for instance if I were to post "Andrew" my nephew, this would not be correct, I could post that photograph under something beginning with N...N for nephew!
So tomorrow, how about we just post a picture of something beginning with A, next Wednesday B etc etc.
Simple yet practical.
We could also list each other's blogs on our own blogs....

I think the idea is good. I would really like to start next week though. It would give me time to get the links together and a picture. I generally just shoot on the weekends. Don't let me hold up the crowd though.

the letter of the alphabet allows you to choose any subject/topic, just as long as it starts with "A" this week, "B" next week.

If you look at the html code in my blog post, I actually used a scroll box to wrap around the links with <div></div>

And if you know HTML with div tag, try to wrap it around for scrollable text box of 200px height and that way the 100 participant links would not spoil your blog beauty. e.g.

Hi all, I have an idea of creating a new group in Flickr that all of our 'a', 'b', 'c', ...'z' pictures can go into the pool and we can visit back in time to what pictures we post and each picture has link back to our blogs -- a backlink. Not that it matters much as all links from the same domain in flickr still count as one backlink and definitely not an technorati authority count to our individual blog.
The only caveat is that not everyone has an a/c in flickr. But I highly recommend to register for a free a/c in Flickr so that the group pool can be a success for this 'Photography ABC' event happening every Wednesday and we as a pool of passionate photographers can pool in for the backlinks to each other who happen to participate. This is a meme kind of promotion of photographer pagerank for every week and if any Search Engine try to detect the sameness of links to detect link exchange, I think they will have a difficult time as the order and uniqueness of the links from each week can differ.
I am rambling but just some thoughts for the potential photographer pagerank increase from link inclusion among us -- the passionate photographers.

It is unfortunate that no one except me and digitalflowers include links to other participants. And others only include one single link to mrsnesbittsplace.blogspot.com/. That won't help with backlinks for all other participants, we have 9 in the list so far for this Wednesday on 8/1/07. While this is a great weekly photography event, the idea in adding links of all participants in each week to the ABC Wednesday blog post is to increase the number of backlinks among all participants and not just the 1st person initiating it. Right now mrsnesbittsplace.blogspot.com/ should have been rasied with 8 backlinks or authority in technorati because all the 8 other participants have a blog post with a link with anchored hyperlink <a href="url"></a> referring to her site.
And to all participants, please add these links to your ABC Wednesday on 'B' post, the suggested div tag will include the list of href links in a scrollable box, please adjust the height to your taste, set for small number if you want to hide the list, crawlers from search engines don't care about the format but when they find 'href' to other sites and that is important backlink count for the destination url, your photo blog. Backlink is one of the important attributes for determing page rank, the more the higher page ranks. Please take this with grain of salt as I am guessing in a lot of unknown areas. Hope someone understand and jump in for correction.

I hope you all see the value of linking each other -- better pagerank!!!! Do anyone of you wants a better pagerank for their blog? I think we all do. Do anyone wants to help each other to increase other's pageranks? It is hard for me to tell as not all participants add backlinks in their 'B' post. But I know this is mostly due to mis-communication and not knowing the how-to. I will go to each of the 'B' blog post and remind with instruction for backlinks. You can do this sooner before I comment on your blog later today or tomorrow.
I will have a blog post about this photographer ABC event and try to summarize the efforts, how-to, and hopefully some researched explanation of meme, backlinking, and pagerank. We should be ready for next Wednesday on 'C' post. Hmmm, time to think about interesting photo besides cat and car. -

I think some of us have our own little communities who are joining in and it will be great to see them all together in one blogroll. Some of my blog readres aren't part of BC, so it will be great to see diverse group all working on one common theme.
Please be patient though, I am not technically minded like you, but that is why we all work together! Great! -

If we have over 100 participants, the list will become unmanageable, I am looking into some DHTML code with scrollable that can work in blogger or wordpress platform. If any webmaster and web developer know of a kool way of scrollable display box for urls, please let me know.

Bidarlah, we will welcome you coming next Wednesday. I keep thinking of my next 'D' pictures. I have one already and not sure on my 2nd D as I have two blogs.
For my next post, I actually change my blogroll to be using the direct links to all 'B' and 'C' posts instead of the blog links. It is a bit harder and mundane to change everyweek but that make my post much more interesting to see the TITLES of all other 'C' and 'B' posts, check out my changes in B and C post for reference:

Hi,
I am interested in joining. How do I do this - just post an entry on my blog and then put the link in this discussion?
I want to be included in the blog roll, and put one on my side bar on my blog, but I am unsure of how that works. I have been looking at your links, Hinioman, but I really don't know how it all comes together. I like how Mrs Nesbitt has hers on her sidebar.

I nicked the one that mrsnesbitt put on this thread and then resized it in Photoshop. I then upload it to the post via Blogger.
PS There is probably an easier way to do it. -
You can also try to do right click on the image and save it to your desktop and then upload to your blogging platform along with your post. I think I actually highlight the image from Digitalflower post and cut&paste in every ABC post that I have. See my 'D' post for reference with a small image
