Hi I am pretty new to blogcatalog and wanted to know who else is around that blogs about travel.
I live in the South of France and run a gite for a living which I support with a website and travel blog that I just listed with blogcatalog.
PM me or visit my blog to let me know if you are a travel blogger as well, we may be able to help each other out a little.
I have lots of other stuff going on as well but travel is one of the main things I do.

I don't have a travel blog but am starting to plan a trip to Africa. I've been to Uganda and Kenya a long time ago and am thinking of going to Guana this time. Last time I went I was working but this time I want a chance to relax, find a focus for my life and write. It's hard to find information that helps me choose a country and educate me on the customs as well as some detail information I need. I want to stay with a local family and maybe work in the field I studied in, Optical (Eyeglasses).

There's nothing like being an interloper on safari in southern Africa watching Nature's beautiful creatures or hanging out with smiling Zulu kids to help you find perspective and focus in your life. Took a marvelous trip to Southern Africa five years ago, covering South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswania, and Namibia. Spent most of my time in the bush on safari in National Parks such as Kruger, Chobe, and Etosha; safaris arranged through backpackers in the area. In a park in Swaziland, the backpacker compound was smack in the middle of the park. Zulu Country in South Africa is where I hung out with the Zulu kids.
I wrote and self-published a book on my Southern Africa experience. The writings are accompanied by my photography and my mom's poetry. You can find my travel books at www.michaelmcguerty.com
Enjoy your Africa adventure, wherever you go!

Nice blog about France, I've never been there, so I find it fascinating. Your photo Le Pays Lauragais is beautiful as are the shots on your Hubpage showing Montpellier.
(Sorry, I couldn't comment in your blog due to a compatibility issue I'm having with blogger/firefox with the way some blogs are configured for comments. For whatever reason I can comment on pop-up windows or the full size setting, but the captcha doesn't show for me when a blog's comment settings are embedded under the post).
I am so glad I found this thread, I love travel blogs. I run a blog on the Washington D.C. Metro area washingtondcmetroregion.blogspot.com/-
Thanks for the follow! I still can't figure out the solution to my problem, but I've narrowed it down to the blogs which use blogger's default comment setting. Mine is definitely a firefox/blogger issue, but I'll be darned if I can figure it what the fix is. Once I upgrade my PC sometime this summer, I'll go back to using IE because I can leave comments with IE with no problems with the CAPTCHA.

Hi Brian,
I visited ur blog, but most of all I would like to visit ur gite. France is simply beautiful and I remember how much I loved Carcassone when I went many years ago.
Being currently jobless (oh yes!) I recently started a travel blog, because travelling, exploring and discovering is what I like at most. If u are interested in having a look my blog is exxxplorer.wordpress.com/
Ciao, -
Seems as though we are getting a few people on board, it will always help if we can link to each others blogs either by following or adding them to our blogrolls. Search engines see this as relative links so you get a better rank and visitors also spot the links and often go have a look giving us all a little more traffic. Just a thought, no problem if you are happy with things as they are.

I've always thought of South Africa as 'White Africa' Ha ha. It hasn't appealed to me that much. I've been on the drive through.... zoo or large contained habitats for animals but that's not what drives me to visit.
I enjoy living the daily live of some one who lives where ever I visit. This can make it hard since there is so many vacation spots any where in the world. If I'm going to fly 24 hrs on a plane I don't want to end up in a spot where my city could emulate and looking at the animals aren't worth the time and money.
I love Africa! I love it for many reasons. The last time I was there, I have never been more healthy, physically and mentally. That statement means so many things.
I would love to know more about where you went. It's nice to talk to some one that's been to the same continent as me. -

Hi Brian,
You have got some nice blogs and I will definitely come back and read more. I have a blog about life in Sweden,it is not really a travel blog as I mainly write about Sweden. But I link to many different sites about Sweden for those who would like to visit this wonderful country.
Your most welcome to visit my blog "A wonderful life in Sweden" (wonderfulsweden.blogspot.com/).
Brgds,
Siv Thuresdotter-
Hi, had a look at your blog and it was good, sort of fits in the Travel category as well, for anyone who doesn't live in Sweden. I followed your blog and will look out for more posts.
My travel blog is french-holidays-aude.blogspot.com/ if you like it why don't you follow or subscribe to the email feedburner.
By the way using feedburner is a great way to get people to subscribe especially the email version and it is run by Google so you can just go and create some feeds and add the code as a gadget.
Thanks for getting in touch, I see you are on Facebook as well so I'll drop you a line.

I'm a Dallas resident who is just about to embark on a 3-week European vacation and will be blogging throughout. We'll be stopping in the South of France (Nice & Cannes). Any tips for while we are there? We're really excited!!!

Yes, learn some basic French, how to say hello, goodbye, please, thank you and how to ask for something. The French are normally very polite, like an initial attempt to speak their language and are normally quiet and reserved.
The country is lovely and lots of French service people(waiters, shops etc) speak reasonably good English and will help you out if you try and speak French to them first to get on their good side.
Don't believe the bad press you hear either, most of the French I know are friendly and tolerant, there will always be the bad apple as in any country so if you are unlucky and find one don't let it bother you.
I think you will love it, scenery, architecture, culture, history and food, France has it all.
Enjoy your trip and get a good phrase book.
