... either create your own [yeah, right! certainly not my forte!] or look around for free templates, or if you're willing, you could pay for some custom design. I elect for the free ones and I tinker a little bit more on my own.

Some great free template resources for blogger:
    1. finalsense.com/services/blog_templates/index.htm [tends not to support "blog description", only "blog header title"]
    2. freetemplates.blogspot.com/
[I got lazy... look at the right sidebar under "other resource" and you'll find many more template sites]

    good luck!

p/s> then there are hacks you can use ... drop down menus as mentioned above, making your posts "peekaboo"... having an additional menu bar on the top of your page... there's a world of hacks and tweaks out there just waiting to be discovered! hackosphere.blogspot.com was a great starting point for me when trying to tweak some of my blogs.

Do you want to add your own template or use one of bloggers template?
  9. willow
carolyn, you've got six blogs registered here at BC, and it looks like you've been able to tweak/add stuff to the headers and sidebars and such for all of the,m... so perhaps *you* need to be more specific? Which existing blog(s) do you, ummm, covet? or what specific features do you want to add?

The blogs that I have are from blogger they are the layouts they provide you with. I know how to add pics and such. Im talking about adding a layout of your choice and how to do that using blogger. I dont really understand how to edit the html and where to put it in the template.

I tweaked the chocolate beach layout by creating my own photo with the same diminsions, uploading it to photobucket.com and replacing the link in the code.

willow you sound kindof *snotty*.. If you dont wanna help than why do you respond to this. Im no computer master or such. Just thought some fellow bloggers could help out a little bit sorry for asking.....
    1. willow
LMAO!!! I point you to two [plus directions to more] sources of templates, then add advice on where to look for hacks... your reply implied this wasn't what you were looking for, but your reply didn't shed much light on what it was you wanted either... so I asked you to clarify further, since with your 6 blogs you show you've got some sort of familiarity with tinkering with templates [to my mind, anyway!]... and this is being snotty? Umm, yeah,,,, whatever babe.

Carolynloveman: You can got to Bebo and create a slideshow for your header, for instance. Once you have created a slide show (well, that takes some time) it generates an HTML tag that can be cut and pasted. Bebo allows you to paste the slideshow as a widget into a Bebo profile page. Public slide shows seen on any Bebo page can be added to your own page.

Hi---Carolyn: I know how you feel, as i too had a heck of time, changing my layout for my blogger blogs. I finally was able to figure it out and am happy to share how to do it.....with you. The free templates i have been tinkering with on my new Groovy Chicago blog....is Free Skins. Someone mentioned it earlier above. They have very nice templates and they guy who does them adds new ones pretty regularly. With these you just:

VIP: if you have widgets, you will lose them, you will have to re-add them after you download a new template.

    1.) download the template
2.) extract all files, open the text file, and copy all contents
3.) go to the "layout", then the "edit html" section of blogger
4.) delete all the stuff on the html page
5.) paste what you copied from the text doc
    6.) save

That's it. If you did it right, the new template will show up when you view your blog. Need more help? Let me know, shoot me a PM.

    Missy.

p.s. see my blog below with the blue flowers free skin: (i just put it in yesterday)

carolyn: did you ever get your blogger layout prob resolved?
  22. eXpertized
The best option is to find a free template for use on your blogger, Use this search engine to find one search-layouts-for-myspace-and.blogspot.com . Generally the templates/layouts will come with instructions, so follow them religiously and ask for their help if you can't get it to work yourself.

Need some free blog things? how about dropping by to zerodollarchallenge.blogspot.com
