Can Dogs Smile?

My answer is "yes" dogs can smile and "yes" they experience the same emotions that we do. -

Yes. Matter of fact, when we were hand-rearing puppies, they were so used to 'seeing our teeth' that when another dog snarled at them, they would keep going toward them. At the time, we thought they were...just less than smart, but then we realized they thought seeing teeth was always friendly, even in other dogs, because we had smiled so often at them
That's why, now, every time we pet one of them or give them attention they grin at us

Some mammals and primates openly show both rows of teeth in a sign of non-aggression or friendliness. Snarls, on the other hand, are usually displayed with a closed mouth or snout, and might only bare the canines or the upper row of teeth.
So, yes, dogs do 'smile', just not in all manners that we define the term.
