Can Evolution Exist w/o Creation (and vice versa)?

Topics: evolution vs creation
Think about the Big Bang theory. Most of the several theories relating to that one, consists of the idea that at one time two particles of matter collided creating a reaction or explosion that began the formation of the universe (to sum it up). How could this be, if a particle of matter was never "created"? Is that possible?
Is it possible that a god or God created bacteria that would eventually form into, through millions of years, species and humans? Do you believe that creationism and evolution must co-exist?

I don't think they necessarily have to, but in my opinion one doesn't exclude the other either. Science can come up with explanations that sound reasonable for stuff back to Big Bang, but what happened before that is anybody's guess. It could have been a deity going a bit overboard with the "Let there be light" thing, or it could have been a rapidly shrinking universe reaching critical mass and bouncing into expansion mode once more, or it could have been the great spaghetti monster accidentally dropping a meatball, or pretty much any other explanation. My money's probably on something like option 2 here, but I'm betting we'll never know for sure.
