Can Phillies pull off a 3 game sweep to win WS?

While my head says no, my heart says...well, maybe! I wrote a post about how it's hard to root with your heart when the team you love is facing seemingly unsurmountable odds. Has there been a time in your life when a team you were rooting for, or maybe even a person in your life, overcame crazy odds and pulled off a "miracle."
Here's the link to my article if you want my POV on the subject: www.broowaha.com/articles/5323/game-5-pits-heart-against-head-for-phils-fan...

I have renewed faith now that they took Game 5. Petite pitches on short rest and Martinez looked good the last time he pitched. I think they have a shot tomorrow and if they win that then Game 7 is anyone's game. I do realize the odds of a 3 game sweep vs the Yanks is pretty slim, but holding out hope. The 2004 Sox did it!

I have always liked the NYY but if it means this much to you Jay, I will root for your team to win.
Miracles do happen ... Believe! -

The only reason I really care is because we have a friendly competition at work. A free drink is riding on this, as well as the opportunity to make the Philly fans wear Yankee hats when NY wins.

Go Phillies!!!
As a Red Sox fan, I root for two teams: the Red Sox and whoever is playing the Yankees!
BOO YANKEES CHOKE! Just like in 04! (what a fantastic memory). -
It can be tempting to think that the Yankees pitchers will be tired, but this is the World Series. They won't be *that* tired. And, the Yanks have a far better bullpen than the Phillies.
The Phillies are going to need their bats, not just defense, to win even one.
(But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.)-
Hey MM--don't lose hope! EVERYONE counted the Sox out in 04 and they came roaring back to make history and provide the Yankees franchise with the title of "Biggest Choke in Sports History."
Such happy memories! I was at games 3, 4, and 5 at Fenway. When David Ortiz hit the winning hit in Game 5, I turned to my husband and said, "The Sox are going to win the WS." And they di.
Good times . . . good times!
I agree with Jay--the Yankees bullpen is really nothing to write home about--other than the great Mariano Rivera, of course.

There is a chance that the Phillies can win but from the looks of it the Yanks wanted to finish the series at home.
-
Not a chance. They would have loved to have finished it last night--believe me. ANYTHING can happen in a 7 game series--look at the Red Sox blowing it on 86, the Yankees in 04, etc. etc. etc.
I think the pressure is on the Yankees to not choke it all away--the last time they did in a big situation (giggle giggle).

Said of the Phils..."They love each other, love the game, love being at the park every day, love coming from behind to win (as they have 44 times)" This will just be the biggest "come from behind win" of the whole season!
I know the stats are against me, but the yankees are beatable and things change when the season is on the line. The game changes and I think going into NY with the series on the line it's anyone's game.

Jay. Let's just forget that they won last night and think. Can the Phillies beat any team two times in a row? Of course!
-
Yanks have the upper hand in the last two games. They're home, have Pettitte and CC compared to Pedro and Hamels/Haap. Read more here empiresportsnow.com/2009/11/03/yankees-home-for-game-six-of-world-series/

No problem there Deray...I was mentally prepared for the loss. It's been like 30 years since a NL team has won back 2 back WS. We still had a good year and were the first NL team to win back 2 back NL championships, so I'll take that and feel good about it.
Congrats yanks fans...we'll see ya next year!
