You need to get access to the underside of the car. You need wheel ramps. After that the converter should be easy to remove once identified. Replacing it however will have to be a bodge job. You will need to bridge the gap with something.
Best plan is to find a local scrap yard. There will be one. You might get a cheap(er) replacement cat there or a piece of exhaust you can cut to fit. -
Ok. Go visit some junk yards and try and find the same type of car as the one your cuz has. It will probably be on it's wheels but usually you can get the junk yard owner to tip it on it's side.
Get the cat off it. If you are not sure where it is ask around or you migh find the info on the internet. One thing is for sure the cat will be part of the exhaust system which is easy to spot when you get a good view of the underside of the car, just trace it back from the exhaust.
Junk yards are different sometimes you ask the guy who owns it for the part and if they have it they go get it. Other times it is just a big pile of cars and you go and get the parts yourself.
Polybore prefers the "self service" junk yards because removing the part from a junk car helps a lot when you then go to fit it to a "going" car.
Also the "self service" junk yards generally have some cool guys there (customers looking for parts) who know about cars and will be willing to help you out if you ask.
Polybore loves the junk yard. Tools, grease and the smell of petrol. You can't beat it.

I think that this thread should be matched with a "green" thread in a steel caged death match on the environment.
