I've a vague idea of what they might be, but still not sure how they work, what's a good page rank and what's a band one etc.

For example, I typed 'Google Page Rank' into, well, Google, which gave me this website: www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php

typed in my general website address which is: www.chrisskoyles.com and am told that it's 0/10.

Am I to assume this is bad?

If I type my own name into google, chrisskoyles.com comes up as the first result.

Confused!

It may take up to several months for you to get any page rank. A zero rank means you haven't been ranked yet. I was 0 for about 4 months and then I checked and was a 3.

Thanks guys. Some of that stuff on Wikipedia confuddles me further, but I'll be patient and see if this thing goes up!

Don't give it too much thought. Unless you're selling certain types of advertising, PR doesn't really have much impact on anything.

PR is in short of PAGE RANk this is what Google sees about your page popularity in terms of search engine crawling from sites. Visitors coming from Google searches are the main measures of this one. The link you have poste in the PRchecker.info is a site which you can check always your PR Rank. And if you want you can have some add-ons in your browser just to see every sites PR while you are browsing the net. Happy Blogging!
